Might be shipping a lightweight (but expensive) box to Mexico and wanted to know if any of you guys had sent via airsure to Mexico before, I had a dig around the RM site but couldn't see a list of countries so thought I would ask here.

Also - what kind of prices are we talking via Airsure?

Yep, I sent a £200 game to Mexico via Airsure last year, cost about £15. And you can track it on their local mail website.

Really Iain?

Thanks Edd, that doesn't sound too bad.

What size and weight is the parcel Joe?? And what insurance level would you need??

It's not a heavy box at all, think 2 MOC's in a decent sized box kinda weight and size, would need about £700 worth of insurance on it but if £500 is the max then that is better than nothing.

According to RM website, Airsure is a fixe price you add to the postage cost. For non EU countries the fee is £5.40 + postage, that covers yoou for £50. To up it to £500 add another £2.60 to the postage fee and the £5.40. Hope thats not too confusing.

No not at all, doesn't sound terrible.

I only ask because I sent a box to Romania the other day without any tracking and it cost me almost £15 so I wondered what kinda price it would cost to send something with all that tracking and insurance to Mexico before I did so :)

Just had a little read of Iain's nightmare with his package. I think the problem was with USPS ****ing up, not the Airsure product itself. Once the parcel is on US soil, RM have done their bit and its up to the countries own postal service to complete the delivery.

I had the same with a parcel I ordered a few months back. Citylink I think it was, I live in Hatfield, they attempted a delivery with my parcel in Letchworth!!!! Random.

Edd, did you do this through the post office? I went up there today and asked and they said they don't send to Mexico via Airsure? Was a bit of a WTF moment as she showed me all the various ways she could do it (£100 for a delivery within 30 days?!)

Thinking I either had a retard serving me or I am going to have to find another courier.

I agree Chris, it wasn't Royal Mail's fault but because of the fact that they do hand over to another company, and then rely on that company to update/deliver then there is little accountablility - I looked in to what I'd need to do to make a claim and I had to wait 25 days before I could even report a problem and it wouldn't be reolved within 90

The other issue with Airsire is that it is not a signed for service so if there is a problem with delivery then there is no way to track whether it has actually been signed for by anyone

I would honestly say that with more expensive items that I would give Airsure a miss just for safety sakes

What's a good alternative to airsure then? Specifically to places like Mexico (and with big ticket stuff that can't go "missing")

I agree Iain, the service is a bit crap once it leaves our country. The problem is each others postal countries systems dont talk to each other with regards to delivery confirmation.

Joe, I sent the 12" Lili Ledy Luke to Mexico at the end of last year. I think I used Parcel Force Global Priority or Global Express. The figure was £350 so increased the insurance on it as well. Had no problems getting there. Although it doesnt track outside of the UK on their website, if you ring them there system is more in depth so will tell you exactly where the parcel is.

international signed for to mexico can only be insured to £250 for some reason, i dont like posting to mexico at all ive had three of five parcels go missing in transit and got no comp at all from rm as apparently its not their fault. im still waiting for a parcel i sent via isf to reach its destination and it was posted on the 23rd of last month  id reccomend a courier instead, next time thats what ill use

I begrudgingly sent one late last year by RM international signed for, took about 4 weeks to arrive, but it did.
Perhaps I was just lucky.
That was a small box with 1 moc in, think it cost around £16 Joe.
But a courier would be a more safe bet
