how low does a grade on a loose figure go before you can start to see marks ,does a nm80 grade figure look perfect to the eye

It varies from figure to figure in my opinion. I had an Hoth Snowtrooper that got an 85 but you could see scratch like marks on his chest whereas other 85's I had were just as good as some 90's!! :lol:

Personally I wouldn't look for anything lower than an 85.

i read an afa's spokes type person on RS, he said they treat each figure differently, so if the figure has alot more paint work they won't mark it down as much as they would against a figure with not a great deal of paint work. So you might have a figure has an 85 grade that has more paint damage than another figure that has scored 85 with less paint damage.

As an example, Luke Hoth is a bitch to find with a good grade as theres a lot of paint on it. But an 85 Luke Hoth might look in the same condition as an 80 Farmboy. They mark those figs with the most paint slightly more leniently. An AFA90 luke hoth would fetch a lot of dosh.

Typically an 85 would be the average straight off-the-card fig (unless it has been banged around in the bubble a bit).

and they even grade a figure inside a bubble differetnly than they would if it was lose

seen many carded examples of figures getting the 90 grade where the paint work is **** and would only reach an 80 maximum if it was a loose graded example
