Well as you all know I finally got the baggies I have been waiting for for a long long time, that being the almost unobtainable Small head Han Solo, & I managed to get 2, the rarer one in SW-b baggie is one of only 3 know examples in the world & cost me a small fortune, the figure had been case in a new way by AFA as the chap that I got it from was working with them on a new way of casing baggies, now cutting that short, the way they came up with did not work as when shipped the figures would burst through the baggies, the guy kindly asked AFA if they would re case the figures due to this prior to shipping them, which I was really please about, until I got them, see for yourself & make up your own mind, but I would consider the way these (I have 3 that have come like this - hot back from AFA after re casing) have been done to be at best amateurish & TBH am so thankful that they all got to me undamaged.

After seeing this I would never send a baggie to AFA for grading in a million years, I will send them to Steve @ UKG for re re casing a 3rd time when funds allow, as I am sure he could do no worse with his eyes closed & a pot of super glue.

My thoughts an all. They are really giving the work experience kid a lot of responsibility at AFA!

For once I find myself thinking - "Well, how else do you want them to case it?"

Baggies (especially oversized ones) will allow figures to move just like Trilogo bubbles do, AFA can't really do too much to stop the figures moving IMO.

The only way I can think of would be to fold the bag around the figure somehow (with the rest of the bag at the back so it doesnt obstruct the figure) and put some rails either side of the figure to keep it in place..but that would risk damage to the bag, creases, rips etc. (the old way held them in too tight at both ends and when the figure was thrown around the bag had no give and it ripped like you mentioned)

I like the look of a bagged figure in a case I just don't think sending it in one is a good idea, that's why I would go for a custom case that I could open up and put the bag in for display yet if I wanted to ship it out ever I could take it out the case and protect it properly.

Acrylic IMO is great for display but piss poor for protection of figures when in transit. and buying graded baggies or getting baggies graded is just a silly idea if you want to keep them safe.

Completely agree, I prefer MOCs and certainly loose figures to be sent just in bubble wrap/peacking peanuts. Any kind of case (including star cases) can cause damage during shipping. not to mention triple the size/weight and therefore price.

im sure if you were to glue to the casing four high density cubes of black sponge, about 1 cm square (not just a bit of washing up sponge  ). one either side of the head, and one on the outside of each leg, it would look just as good as some of the gluing of perspex ball ups ive seen. you could wrap the bag and gather it to the back of the figure so it will still display ok. this way, the bag wouldn't get damaged and it wouldn't get shaken about.
either way, it would look better than what frunk was sent IMO.

maybe im wrong

I agree with a lot of what you have said Joe, but leaving the figure loosly flopping about inside the case knowing it has to go through the post is a recipe for disaster & having the baggie folded over would have been a better idea, though I hate seeing them that way at least they will not get damaged in transit, the least they could have done IMO was make the case thinner front to back to at least make it look like they put some effort in.

I hope that this sort of thing will be a thing of the past for graded baggies soon, if my idea works out, baggies @ UKG getting experimented on at the mo.

& the rest of you - I have to agree its **** shite plopedy poo's

WTF Frank? So they basically just made a random acrylic case and just shoved the baggie inside, no support rods or anything?? Nice going AFA. Glad I stopped with them a while back!!
