As some off you allready have seen i recently purchased an AFA graded Toltoys VC Jawa.
I bought this one because it's was graded and came with a COA from Tom Derby's wich this garanties it's genuine.

Normally i haven't got a problem to bust a figure out off his plastic prison, but for some reason this one holds me back, if i ever would sell it on, it probably loses value and then the COA would have no use anymore, because it's can't be garanteed anymore it belongs to this figure... Tuff choice...

The reason i am thinking about it is, i only collect loose figures (and i mean loose not in an AFA case or baggie, just loose) and then this Toltoys Jawa would be the only figure in my collection encapsulated with an AFA Case.... I also think it would display better in my loose collection if it was not cased. But i don't wanna regret it afterwards for busting the case off this slightly more rare foreign figure.

What would you guys do if you where in my shoes?
Bust the case or just leave it in?

Cheers, Dennis.

I just go for loose - but I wouldn't open this one. As you say if you want to sell on at a later stage it's deffo gonna lose money out of its plastic prison.

Possibly photography any distinguishing marks on the Jawa while still encased eg. tattoos, birthmarks or scars then crack it open like you really want to.
With this photographic back up and of course the COA, if and when you come to sell, i reckon you shouldnt have any problems selling the piece on to another forum member.

In the mean time just dont get caught selling fake vinyl cape jawas, it will do nothing for your street cred

If your planning on selling it eventually I'd say leave it in its case. Otherwise your throwing money away just by breaking it out of its case.

I wouldn't open it as it's a pretty unique figure and no matter what evidence you've got, that case it's in is the main piece of evidence.

I personally would keep the figure cased and preserved, if you REALLY want it loose and you plan to keep it then do what you want to do with it, it is yours to enjoy.

You will lose some resell value if you open it, as the grading authentication certificate will mean nothing and some sellers will pay much more for graded and certified.

But this is just my opinion. :)

Unless you have **** loads off money available keep it in its case
you might run into hard times and need to sell it

If you are loaded then set that baby free!!

I would keep it in the case. But Dennis it is your you can crack it open if you want. You could always sell the smash case with the figure if you ever decide to sell it

You both nailed the fact what's keeping me from opening this figure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts anyway, i think i am just going to leave it in the case for now. (maybe this could change in the future, but will first try to find out how it's fits in the collection)

Cheers.

i would leave it and i hate the loose afa figures!

its too rare to **** about with

I think bollux hit the nail on its head. This is seriously rare. Why dont you just buy a loose one and get Tom Derby to authenticate it for you so you know its real. Then sell the other and get your money back.

hi i dont like AFA stuff but i can see why its there , like for the figure your on about, if i was in your shoes i would open it as you bought it for your collection, and as you know its real if **** happens and you need to sell you could get it graded again, just my opinion

Dennis,

Congrats on a nice score. They are pretty tough. Personally, I agree the figure should be left in the case. Though the "plastic prison" is not that appealing, the resale difference is HUGE. Cheers..

Like the others have said i'd leave it alone.
You would simply de-value it by a huge amount if you were to open him up.

Open him up and the coa is pretty worthless.

Just get the rest of your collection AFA'd so it fits in better lol.

...you could also trade it with somebody's loose one... :)
