Perhaps there not graded because you sent them with repro weapons.

That 'Han Soli" ( ), is in terrible condition, even his buckle has been painted red. Why on earth would you even send these in for grading.

Ian

 That Luke saber stands out so much I didn't evan notice the Han buckle.

AFA will & do grade figures with repro weapons & even accessories, read the small print on there site as it states they grade the figures, seriously they will not authenticate the weapons WTF's that about eh, no point even sending loose to them for grading IMO

But yes these are shockingly bad :?

Yeah they won't authentic loose weapons, because it only cost's about £10 to grade a figure doesn't make business sense for them. It's basically a good faith system. They wont knowingly Grade a repro weapon. I've sent loads of loose figures all with origional weapons and I read the small print before sending them, I don't have a problem with it.

   You guy's piss me up, a positive thread about AFA and you still manage to turn it into an AFA wripping thread. Brilliant. Do you reckon UKG grade more loose figures than AFA then? People don't just buy loose graded figures for authentification they buy them for display value as well, which some collectors don't like and I totally get that. But a lot of collectors like graded items other wise UKG and AFA would have gone out of business long ago. There part of the hobby whether you like it or not.

The thing for me with AFA is why pay some spotty 17 year old who knows **** all about the hobby to handle & case your figures, let alone grade them when you have an alternative of someone who actually gives a **** about what they are doing rather than it being a just money spinner, not that UKG aren't in it for the money or it would be pointless, I just see far to many bad things coming via way of AFA to be a fan of the way they are doing it rather than what they are doing.

When it comes to resale value I get it, AFA always command a higher price than UKG, but if your in it for having your own stuff cased/graded & live this side of the pond with no intentions of moving it on I just can't see the sense in sending stuff half way round the world & back when the same/similar thing is on your doorstep.

Just my opinion

All good points Frunkstar but all collectors have differant situations and ideas of how best to display there haul. I won a 12 back R2 in 2004 AFA graded and liked it. If UKG had been around probably would have gone with them. I won't ever regret it as I will never sell my collection and if I did the value of it has increased more than the grading cost evan the loose one's. I've sent some right MOC beaters in knowing they would get refused but got them cased anyway so they match up. At least they won't get 'U' graded.

The one thing I don't like and would never do is send in MISB vehicles and play sets as they open them to check contents. That's almost as bad as 'U' grading if you ask me. But as you say it's just my opinion. :) 8)

Fair point as well, no point mixing & mismatching, same reason I only go with the UKG custom cases for my baggies.

You have shocked me even further away from the want to send anything in to AFA by that statement regarding MISB items WTF, how can it even then be graded as MISB anymore FFS it makes about as much sense as collecting Toni's :? though AFA's procedures & job's worth have to's always keep me interested even if only to see what they mess with next, saying that I would never have had anything of my own graded had the new cases for baggie come about as I bloody hate the way baggies display in a standard case like AFA do & UKH used to as they look proper gash all folded over & cramped up IMO

Yeah the MISB grading is an odd one and I'm suprised more hasn't been made of it on here. Someone will show me an old thread now! But I guess no-one is forced to send there stuff in. They should spend less time checking the contents of MISB items and more time looking out for repro weapons.  With you on baggies and anyone thinking of going down the graded road I would advise to think about carefully as if your like me once you start down the path to the dark side there's no turning back.

I'll second that advice, I've started so I now have to see this thing through & am slowly having all my baggies done, though for me a huge part of it is for the protection side of things with some of the baggie types being so fragile, saying that they display 100 times better in there cases as making baggies look good on display is not an easy task.
