AFA 85 collection for $78,000 *faints*

Is it me or is it not that clear what he's actually selling. :?

Spot on. No idea. Does it include the boxed ships? Are the ships graded too?

Oh man, this guy is silly right from the get go in his description.

Here is a chance to get a lifetime of collecting high end StarWars figures in one shot. And with the new movie already guaranteed to be the highest grossing film of all-time, and the promise of many more to come, this is a solid investment.

It is FAR from a guarantee. I have maintained it's a long shot to beat Jurassic World's $652 million North American haul for just this year's #1 all along. To beat Avatar? Yeah, right. But, then again, there's people on here who think it will too. Time will tell. The point is he's nuts by saying it's a "guarantee".

1. I will not break up the collection and sell or trade individually. I know that is a bummer for many seeking to fill in gaps in their collection, and the entire collection piecemeal is likely to gain a higher overall amount, but truthfully, I still love collecting and although high end vintage figures are almost impossible to find and through the roof in cost, I don't have many more to go to get to the 96 original figures (counting R2 and 3P0 versions and foreign POTF) If its the whole collection in one shot, I will part with it. But I will not sell off individual items.

When you don't list everything you're selling individually, and the pics don't perfectly show every item, how do we know what's included to even ask to be split up? For example, I see missing POTF figures in there - is Yak lying around out of camera range, or not included?

2. I am not budging on the price.

Yet - he has the "Best Offer" option available.

OK, here are some details.

*All boxed and carded vintage starwars figures pictured are included, please don't ask about the MASK or TRANSFORMERS, they are not getting sold.

So his "ultimate" collection is incomplete? And you are responsible for knowing what isn't included, as opposed to being told what is?

*Every item is graded clear bubble AFA85. Many are straight 85's , some have 80 subgrades mixed in, I will make a list for a serious and qualified interested party only. That's a lot of work.

Further down he will mention boxed items and tape - but here "every" item graded with a clear bubble. Even the items without a bubble?

*There are a few who are slightly yellow. The LOGRAY is about 50% yellow. The IG88 about 20% yellow. There are 4 or 5 that have a barely noticeable tinge (maybe 5%) that you can notice under direct clear flashlight shined through the other side, but in standard light look perfectly clear. The main high value figures are all clear. I will provide specifics to interested buyers

Oh, thanks. So, "every" item is graded with with a clear bubble - EXCEPT for these. Good way to cancel out the above claim. And he doesn't even list all of them not 100% clear.

* The LUKE STORMTROOPER is shown as 1 of 4 (last I checked) and is 100% stunningly clear. Probably the nicest Luke Stormtrooper on the planet.

One was just limelighted less than a month ago on FB. Nice claim though.

* The 12 backs are all "C" back. I am in the midst of doing an AFA85 Unpunched 12bkC set. C-3P0 was more recently bough for about $1,600 which I though was a good buy.

Well, this explains his crazy price. He thinks a NON 12A C-3PO is worth $1600? Ummm.....

*The boxes are all sealed with tape secure on all sides, AFA85's.

Here it is. Are they clear bubble too? ;)

*I would probably only want to sell this collection with buyer pickup only, because I want you to be 100% happy and I do not want to box this collection and deal with a return issue. If you only will do shipping, we would have to discuss the logistics of that.

To be honest, if you're dropping $78,000 on a collection, you can probably afford to pick it up in person. And with all that acrylic, it would probably be cheaper too.

Many of these figures in this condition only come up on eBay once every few years. Some may never come up again. If you want to complete 70%+ of the original collection in investment grade condition, this may be for you. If you don't need all these, then take a short term loan, keep what you want, sell the rest and get a good chunk of your money back.

I think you can find AFA85 examples of probably every single vintage carded SW figure at any given point on ebay. Some may be hard with clear bubbles, but they do exist, and come up more frequently than "once every few years". And they're Star Wars toys. Not exactly rare items you'll never see again. ;)

If I hear one more faux collector using the word "investment" alongside collecting, I will scream like a little girl.

When I listed this collection once previously, people said to me "if your not willing to separate it than you must not really want to sell it". To this I say, YEP. I agree, I am perfectly happy to keep marching on with completing as much of it as I can. (Bummer I missed the Dengar a few months back!, I got knocked out at $1250) .

Translation - I've poured a **** load of money into this, and grossly overpaid for clear bubble AFA items. People are spending stupid money on vintage Star Wars right now, so I am willing to take advantage of that and cash out to someone who doesn't know any better. In a couple of years, when the hype dies and the bubble bursts, I can buy these all back again at a lower price.

In that case, it still really cool to see pics of a nearly completed collection so........................................................enjoy.

Thanks Bob.

Or, I can go in my basement and see the actual completed set in person. :) (well, aside from the half dozen I had to sell earlier this year - but that's temporary).

We're sorry we couldn't find an answer for you. Unfortunately, this seller is unable to respond to your question. We suggest reviewing the item again to see if your answer is in the seller's listing.

So you can't even ask a question about the £50K he wants dropping on it.

I would probably only want to sell this collection with buyer pickup only, because I want you to be 100% happy and I do not want to box this collection and deal with a return issue. If you only will do shipping, we would have to discuss the logistics of that.

So you want to discuss it but you won't accept questions..........

Ahhh....he has it blocked to international ebayers. I get the same message. It means he won't acknowledge anyone outside the US at all.

He's tries to sell it before. Not worth £50k and pretty terrible listing. Not much more to add.

Damn us pesky Brits and Canadians with our impertinence, intelligence and inquisitive nature! If only we had an "insider" that could penetrate his cloak of stupidity?

I was told this might be the 'Box King', he was chucked out of all the FB groups for selling repros!!
