Hello.

I am very interested please for anyone on this forum to view my vintage Star Wars collection to offer advice on possible values and methods of valuations. My collection has been in storage since the 1980's.

I had this collection as a kid and it's all original with nothing added to the collection since the 1980's. I am not a modern day collector and do not intend to add to the collection. I do not have any boxes with the items, as everything was played with. I guess my parents like others had no idea of the potential values of some items decades into the future, but then again who would have wanted to miss the fun of playing with them as kids?!?

I do not have the full collection of figures or vehicles, but as it's nearly complete for the figures, I guess I was one lucky kid. Some of the items, such as R2D2 and C3PO are in poor condition and some look worn such a Luke Skywalker X Wing Pilot, but a many of the items are in what I would class as good or very good condition. I have used the web in the past couple of weeks to view references (www.rebelscum.com) to the toys and I hope I've matched all figures with the correct weapons etc... There are some figures with missing lightsabers and guns, but I appear to have other guns left over with other backpacks etc... The vehicles are in good condition but the some of the white vechicles are showing discolouration, which I guess is par for the course after 30 years. The Y Wing Fighter has a missing gun and the X Wing Fighter has lost everything in battle somewhere.

I have taken photos of all of the figures and various vehicles and created a web album (which I hope is OK for people to view)...

I can provide any further close up photos on any items if required.

After reading the net, ebay (a minefield of information) and this forum and trying to understand possible valuations, I am unsure whether to pay to get any of the items graded by AFA or UKG. I understand it's not particularly cheap (what I great business idea those guys had) and some items are not worth grading at all but other items could be serious collectors items and worth the cost to grade, if I decide to sell on. However, I may just decide to insure and keep for the next generation.

Thank you in advance for any advice and information you can provide.
Sorry, if I've not used this forum correctly... it's my first time.
Cheers!
Adam

Adam,
A warm welcome to the forum.
First of all, bravo, great first post, and great collection.
You are sat on a lovely collection.
As someone who sold his collection as a teenager then began collecting again as a father of a Star Wars nut, I would say keep hold of what you have unless the bailiffs are knocking!
It appears that after your research you have an incline of a gut feeling to keep hold of them. I'd say, if there is any doubt there is no doubt.

As to value? They are your childhood toys, and therefore they are priceless.

Just my 2 pence worth.

i concur bud, i wouldn't get rid of my loose childhood figures!
you have some nice loose figs and kudos that most of them have there original weapons

A nice first post for once, congrats!

As for values, most of the loose figures (Star Wars characters through to Return of the Jedi characters) are probably in the £5-10 range, you have a decent amount of the POTF range too, some rough values of those are:

A-wing Pilot - £40 (should be a black blaster)
Han Carbonite - £35
Imperial Dignitary - £15-20
Imperial Gunner - £35 (should be a black blaster)
Luke Stormtrooper - £55
Anakin - £12
EV9D9- £35
Lando General - £35
LukE Poncho - £40
Romba - £30
Yak Face - £80-100

All in all it's definitely a few hundred quids worth, not enough to retire on but enough for a new console, mobile or some new shoes and handbags for the Mrs!

spot on prices joe , last 17 figs prices have rocketed up in the past few years though havnt they!??

Good morning and thank you all for your posts... I really appreciate the honest and friendly feedback. CharlieCharlie and ponchobelt are right to say keep the collection... perhaps I'll re-visit them again in another 25 years. Joe, thanks for taking the time to put some valuations against the figures. I think some of the items that are worth something will held back from little hands, until they are a little older... but the other items will be passed down now. Seeing Buzz Lightyear flying the X Wing Fighter around the house was a little strange but also made me smile. Cheers! Adam
