Pretty cool site with half decent humour for a change!

http://afotd.blogspot.com/

Here are the reasons for 8D8

1. Who doesn’t love a torturer? What â€" people who have been tortured? Oh, yeah.

2. The favorite figure of many a sadistic dictator.

3. The closest Star Wars came to a Terminator endoskeleton.

4. Art buffs enjoy 8D8’s similarity to Edvard Munch’s “The Scream.”

5. The shortest name in the Star Wars action figure line!

That make you a sadist dictator then?
I did wonder why you were in Romania, all that rubbish about your wife being from there, now we see the REAL reason! :D
Nicolae Ceau?escu mark2 aka Whiteskinnydroid aka Joe!

LOLLLLLL

You never know I might be on the news!

I think I fall in the reason not stated: Cheap and cheerful and packed full of childhood memories

Sounds like a holiday in Southend haha

Hi Mate

8d8 is ev9d9s bitch isnt he, Well thats what i thought.

Cheers Grant.

EV 9D9 is the bitch in that relationship! (She is a female!)

8D8 Just stands around burning the feet off of power droids! (whilst simultaneously inventing the concept of The Terminator with his snazzy robotic design! )

Spoons focus character:
Why should you own this figure?(Han Hoth)
Five reasons:

1. You can holster the gun, you know, for when you're doing other things like, uh, combing the flakes out of Chewie's fur?

2. This figure is involved in two cool scenes: cutting a tauntaun open, and having a firefight with a probe droid.

3. In honor of all Minnesotans, I feel a deep connection to a warmly-dressed character.

4. Only Han in Hoth gear would have the guts to stuff his friend into, well, tauntaun guts.

5. Han was at his coolest when he yelled, "Then I'll see you in hell!" In fact, this was probably why it made this such a good movie - Han was loyal to his friends and didn't take crap for it.

Steve: (Chewbacca)
Five reasons to own this figure:

1. One of the tallest figures in the original line - crush those scrawny Stormtroopers.

2. Who else is going to sit in the co-pilot's seat in your Millennium Falcon? Luke? This ain't like dusting crops boy!

3. Relive the exciting conclusion to Empire Strikes Back where Chewie desperately tries to ignore the fact that Lando is wearing Han's clothes.

4. Lord your ownership of this figure over your wimpy Ewok-owning friends.

5. You owe it to Chewie since the medal-snub at the end of Star Wars.

cocoFstar : (Yoda)
1. Yoda, frickin' Jedi Master, dawg.

2. The figure is the only time you will see Yoda smile. In the movies he's always harshin' Luke's buzz.

3. Re-enact the R2 / Yoda featherweight bout! In this corner, a scrappy little tin head! In the other corner, a guy who can lift an X-Wing and land it on your head!

4. He's got his own playset - who else is going to levitate those containers? Luke? I don't think so.

5. Create the always dreamed-about-but-never-realized Yoda versus Salacious Crumb Ulitmate Fighting Challenge, winner take all!

And for Phantomshadow: (Emperors Royal Guard)

Why should you own this figure? Five reasons:

1. Despite their movie inaction, it still looks bad ass.

2. Great red figure for ex-Soviet lovers.

3. Goes great with an Imperial Shuttle.

4. Create a scene where the Guards actually do something, like Grevious’ robot guards in Revenge of the Sith.

5. The force pike makes a great limbo pole for all the figures.

(I was taking a guess that no-one could be bothered to dig through all the blog to read all this lol)

Shawn you can find Luke Jedi I don't have that much time on my hands lol (my eyes are blurry from scrolling down the blog  )

It's why he was my favourite as a kid - not the combing bit

Hey we can't help that the cool action scenes were cut

There is a scene in ROTS where Yoda whoops two of them

Those weren't proper Royal Guards - you can see their feet.

Crikey don't you people know anything about Star Wars!!
:D

Is this the only scene in any of the films we see them in action ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qwSHC96vUM

I know there are a few comics/ EU bits and they have a cool background history but I can't remember if we see any of them fighting!

Ohh wait I found the deleted scene of one fending off what seems to be a fat Anakin !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0B1k1vqcgg&feature=related

There were scenes deleted from ROTJ, 1 where they beat the poo out of Jerjerrod and 1 where they stop Vader from entering the Emperor's Throne room (or the lift to it) This was cut out because they thought Vader chokes too many people in the movies

As for the clip of that guy fighting the fat Anakin (here is where I offend the 501st - but I don't care) - that is not a proper royal guard costume (as in ROTJ version)

Nice!
I have seen lots of deleted scenes but not even heard of those, do they exist filmed or just in the script?

Post a link if you have one!

Here are two that I found on this site with a quick google search. I seem to remember at least one of these pictures being in the Sansweet Action Figure Archive book.

Cool pictures. Thats the first time I have seen a Royal guard do anything apart from stand there and look menacing.

Cheers mate.

Grant. :D

Well done"Hunter"!

Yeah that's the 2. the second one is from the Sansweet book - that thing on the left is the arm of the POTF Rg fig.

The first pic - apparently Vader is on his way to tell the Emperor that he's sensed Luke on Endor. Jerrjerod tells him the Emperor doesn't want to be disturbed which is why Vader starts choking. Although it looks like the RG are attacking Jerrjerod in the second picture, its possible that this is from the same scene and that's them reacting to Vader's attack.
There was/is the suggestion of a second scene where the Vader is stopped directly by the RG

Cool info, gotta admit I always thought they were just glorified wall decorations. They never seemed to do anything in the OT.
