Acrylic Cases Help.

How do you find the rails on the UKG cases, do they scratch the card?

Well, the rails on UKG cases are good aswell, the only ones i had problems with where the OScar cases, i think they have the best sliding bottom, but the rails are dangerous to scratch your Moc.

Then like i said, UKG has also a good sliding bottom panel, where the ones from Christian just fall out, i used tape on all my cases from christian, to keep the sliding bottoms in...

But christian cases do have great inner rails, so i am not saying anything bad about his cases, just making a note about the sliding bottom.

Also if you are worried about the inner rails scratching your MOC, use this method that i described in the link below, you'll never will have this problem anymore...

Hi Dennis,

Hope you're well.

Sorry to hear you aren't a fan of the easy slide bottom panels on our cases - these were developed through feedback received from other customers wanting a looser fit. That said I'm obviously delighted to hear your appreciation of our inner rails because they are vitally important to get right as they actually hold the MOC in place.

Anyway - with the new stock I hope that this issue will have been resolved, on the majority of the cases, due to a minor adjustment by the factory but all the cases are hand made so whoever the source there will always be minor variances. Just to give you an idea of the difficultly faced by the production line is that in order to have the bottom panel 'firm' the groove in the acrylic sheet before the bending process is performed has to be 3.10mm. If this is 0.02mm wider it's means a loose fit - if 0.02mm narrower it means a tight fit. Yes that is tenths of a millimeter we are talking about

I hope this helps to give an insight into part of the production process involved and I'm always available (well when in the country!) and happy to discuss any improvements/amendments to the cases and any other of the products as I view GW Acrylic as a community driven project rather than lining Andy Kalliq's pocket to inflate the Palitoy MOC market further! (Ohhhh that was a bit bitchy!!! :p :p )

[email protected] alway happy to chat.

Cheers,
Christian

Hi Christian,

No offence towards your cases, just was giving a review to fellow collectors about my experience with the different cases i use.
Also i never complaint to you about it, and it does not really bother me that much and like i said, they do have the best inner rails. But if i give my opinion i just like to give the pro's and con's about each case.

Like you said, you made the sliding bottom a tad more loose because other people asked for it, i however do like a tighter fit On them, because now they fall out, but i guess its all due to preferences.

Cheers, Dennis.

Good topic, mate. I'm thinking about acquiring a batch of acrylic cases, but I would like 'thinner width' ones, to display just the cardback. Could Steve at UKG produce these?

I know I should make enquiries to the fellow direct, but it's late on a Monday night... I've had a few beers, and I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate me slurring down the phone at this ungodly hour.

Any insight into this bespoke enquiry of mine would be very much appreciated...

Apologies, Christian- I missed your previous post before making my own. I would be interested on hearing your thoughts on making a batch of slimmer style cases with rails purely for the cardback.

Hi Martin,

No problem at all. Regarding the slim cases that fit just a cardback or proof card this product will probably be added to our range in the next production run. With the new information that Grant (Maulster) has provided regarding the negative aspects of using toploaders it has spurred us on to reconsider a batch of this type of case. However, in the past one of the main problems collectors faced with previously available 'proof' cases is that being so thin they are very wobbly when on display and unless your display cabinet is rock solid they can tip over - not what you really want when you've got a £600 proof bashing into a 12 back - dominos! To this end we have a solution in mind and will be sending drawings to the factory to produce samples within the next few weeks. More info to follow as and when available.
That said I currently have my proof cards in the ADC-11 which is nice and consistent with the MOC figures next to them.

Cheers,
Christian

Hello Christian,

Thanks for your reply, I'll look forward to seeing what develops regarding your proof/cardback cases. Hopefully I'll catch you at the next Farthest From, I'd like to have a look at the ADC-11 in the flesh, so to speak!

All the best,
Martin
