Is there a chance that Acrylic cases could hold condensation and ruin the MOCs.

This has never happened to Star Cases, so I'm wondering what people's experiences of these are.

Cheers.

Is your card more probe to warping from temperature or are they fixed firm?

I'm looking to replace all my star cases in one go, which will cost a fortune.

Would this transition between star cases to acrylics be recommended?

Star cases (if stacked) can leave impressions on the cards, they can also turn yellow over time as well.

Overall you are better off going the acrylic route, they aren't air tight as AJ said, they look much better, they stand up straight and they also offer far more protection than star cases.

If you can afford to do it - DO IT!

I've just ordered 15 and can't wait for them to arrive - I also can't wait to fill them as I only have 4 moc's so since I've placed the order I've been spending even more time scouring the sales thread for potential buys :D

I spent ages trying to decide what was best for me and my size of collection - cost, protection and space available. In the end acrylic seemed the best option.

Will post pics when they arrive

UKG
Liked the idea of getting "branded" cases from a well known source. Was important that I could keep buying more in the future and always get the same style. Contacted Steve and he couldn't be more helpful in fact I can testify to his excellent customer service, quick replies to all my questions and lots of info about his products - it's very obvious he's a collector himself and loves the hobby.

I've went for mixture - some UV for my favourite mocs (I know acrylic block 95% of UV but was happy to pay the little extra for my favs), a deep style for Gam Guard and 13 standard that I am looking to fill as soon as possible :D

As soon as they arrive I'll post some pictures up to let everyone see

Definitely acrylic over star cases!

Just never post MOCs in acrylic cases without packing support for the bubble. Another reason to dislike grading - high risk of damage during posting (figures go through top of bubble due to lack of support).

Had to get that in there :)

A good source for cases in UK is Christian from GWAcrylic.
Have a few of his cases and in my opinion they are better than the AFA cases.
The rails which hold the MOC in place have a curved lip on them, and are designed to not scratch the card when inserting or removing from the case.
They are made by a collector for collectors.

His prices are good too.

This is also a great thread for inserting or removing a MOC into acrylic cases without causing any damage to the card.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Only problem with his cases is, that the sliding bottom is not Well made and falls out the moment you pick up the case. Therefor, you don't have this problem with UKG cases.
I have bought sliding bottom cases from Christian, UKG and Oscar.

Although all have pro and con's, the number 1 for me where the ones from UKG.

I believe he does - I think he is away for a couple of weeks but when he gets back I have 100 of these bad boys to pick up from him

How do you find the rails on the UKG cases, do they scratch the card?

Well, the rails on UKG cases are good aswell, the only ones i had problems with where the OScar cases, i think they have the best sliding bottom, but the rails are dangerous to scratch your Moc.

Then like i said, UKG has also a good sliding bottom panel, where the ones from Christian just fall out, i used tape on all my cases from christian, to keep the sliding bottoms in...

But christian cases do have great inner rails, so i am not saying anything bad about his cases, just making a note about the sliding bottom.

Also if you are worried about the inner rails scratching your MOC, use this method that i described in the link below, you'll never will have this problem anymore...

No problem, i missed you linked to my thread on RS, but happy you referred to it. I am still happy it helps people and can be used as reference as that's why i created it.
I actually made the same thread on here, as there some members who aren't on/or banned from RS.

For anyone intrested, i still have about 5 acrylic cases leftover, they are Christian's and i also have 1 deeper case (wich fits the power droid or gam. guard or rancor keeper or any other with a bigger bubble)
