Has anyone received MOCs in Jiffy bags and other crappy packaging sine the RM price increase?

i think most of my buys from ebay have been in jiffy bags or other crap methods to keep the cost down, (even though they charged full postall price)

It's a worrying trend

PA my wife told me that my Birthday gift Gunner Luke card arrived in an Asda blueberry muffin box!!!

Yeah - the problem you have is that a well wrapped MOC will not fit into the 'small parcel' slot now - especially if it is in a Star Case. Therefore I imagine rather than asking for more money from the buyer - sellers are taking the risk.

It now costs £5.65 minimum to send a MOC so if you purchase one and the seller hasn't asked for at least that in postage then my tip would be to point this out to them and even offer to pay the extra.

Yep that's the problem Iain.

I've had sellers take £6 or £7 for P&P and expected them to turn up in a box, I've complained once or twice but it falls on deaf ears, thankfully no casualties as yet ...

Funnily enough Iain the wife requested that the seller securely box the Luke Gunner, it still came in a blueberry muffin box!

It is so annoying when that happens

I do have a small bit of sympathy will sellers as with the new prices then if they haven't sold something that size before then they are going to be caught out and 9 time out of 10, buyer do get a bit arsey when asked for extra money for packaging.

However, if you go out of your way to ask for the correct packaging and pay the right postage then it is 100% not acceptable if it turns up in something else.

I had a huge argument with a seller who sent me a boxed speederbike in a bubble envelope and then claimed that it was to toy that was mint not the packaging

Hey Andy , blueberry muffin box is ok?

I think you just want to have your cake and eat it :?

No seriously, I bought something from eBay..non SW...it came wrapped in tissue and a smaller version of a bin liner, wrapped in Sellotape, needless to say the packaging was crushed to buggery, but in this case that didn't matter

As you rightly say bit worrying,

Great advice Iain, :D

 I love my cake :D - it wouldnt have bothered me if the muffins where still in it

Its a good point Iain regarding sellers being caught out - I think many have

On a good point I received a loose james bond moon buggy (under a tenner) and it was in bomb proof packaging, superb, I email the seller and thanked them :D

How about loose figures sent inside toilet rolls, yep believe it, ive recieved a couple of loosies packed that way. I guess thay thought it would protect the figure.

Toilet roll tubes  its not gonna help much Oscar

Can anyone beat the Asda blueberry muffin box? _ so flimsy it doesnt even protect the muffins

Currently having a row with an ebay seller just now - bought a carded figure and contacted before, during and after to request, specify and then remind them that it had to be sent in a box to protect the bubble.

It arrived in a jiffy bag crushed bubble bent card. The sellers response - "the actual item isn't damaged just the packaging"

Do agree that the recent price hike will only encourage people to scrimp on packaging. Another good reason only to buy from this forum as I'm always amazed by the measures you guys go to to protect figures. Very common to pay less than the actual postage costs and that's not taking into the extra bubble wrap, foam peanuts and actual prep time. Happy to say I'll do the same for anything I'm sending, uphold the SWFUK standard :D

Best to open a case here. Be vague about 'what' is damaged. Just say "item was sent in a jiffy bag and damaged in post". The "item" as far as you are concerned includes the packaging but ebay may not agree so don't mention specifically what is damaged. Ask for a partial refund and if he refuses send it back in a jiffy bag for a full refund. No need to talk to the guy anymore. There really never is any need for these "rows" on ebay. Ask once and then open a case. ebay's case award system is largely automatic so It's unlikely they'll even read what is written in the specifics. You'll just get refunded and he'll get deservedly shafted. "argument" over. ;)

Thankfully all my purchases on here have been great. Just got a parcel off Bluedog and it was pretty much bullet proof. I actually thought it was in a wooden box wrapped with parcel paper at first the parcel was so sturdy. Cheers 8)

Yep - great advice - open a case, I would too

This does seem to becoming the norm on ebay & I can see it leading to a HUGE hike in MOC & MIB items in the future as each & every one that gets trashed will only hike the prices of the remaining ones that are out there, I don't buy these kind of items often, but when I do I ALWAYS send them the link to Stargeezrs How to thread & ask that it be specifically packed in that manor & I am willing to cover ALL costs including there time & packaging material, I also state clearly that if they are not willing to do so then to please cancel the transaction & refund me in full.

A dark horizon though for sure.

That's a good idea. I'm just about to contact a ebay seller about that very thing - they are asking £10 p&p sending by Hermes - it could be posted by RM special for less than £10 :?

PGowdy and chazb73 - cheers for the very good advice. Should have said in my post that it's not a vintage moc just a very hard to find modern

Guy has buckled and agreed to full refund including original and return postage, just a complete waste of everyone's time, could have been avoided and saved all the subsequent hassle with trips to Post Office. Actually asked for a partial refund to save me having to go to the trouble of returning it but he got immediately shitty and thought I was at it!

Good news I have some money to buy something else from here :D

Thanks again
