A thread on TIG has been bought to my attention, regarding this kind act you guys arranged. As I am not an active TIG member, and this is SWFUK business I thought this is the most appropriate place to air this.

If I have slighted anyone by not thanking them personally I am truly sorry. I decided at the time it would be more in the spirit of the community to post an open thankyou to everyone who donated, and mention the guys who actively helped to assemble the haul.

I really hope it doesn't appear that I am ungreatful- because I was genuinely moved by the gesture. I'm fairly sure this was the best gift I have ever received by anyone in my whole life (even better than the Lambo murcielago drving experience!)

I must say though, as a giveaway instigator (different but similar topic ) receiving praise for my actions was the last thing I was thinking of. I haven't heard back from one prize winner, and I wouldn't dream of running a thread insinuating he was ungrateful. For me it is totally against the spirit of a giveaway.
If I had an issue with the lack of a thank you (which I didn't) I would have done it privately rather than publicly.

Lastly, as my close collecting buddies know, I haven't been actively posting much in the last couple of months after a catalogue of catastrophes, and more recently the most enjoyable month of my entire life. Right or wrong collecting has been pretty low on my list of priorities.

In hindsight I regret not thanking each of you individually.

If anyone wants to comment feel free to post here or pm me :)

Ed you owe no one an explanation mate, personally I feel this thread was more than thanks for all involved but obviously others think differenty.

I saw the thread in question but felt it best not to comment, please don't let it sour the spirit of this gift for you mate. The whole idea of this was to lift the spirits of a fellow member who had given selflessly of himself in the past. Nuff said!

I think Ryan said it all really, Ed but IMO: I think your original post really contained all the thanks anyone involved needed, it was you telling the rest of us nerds about a nice gesture you will never forget and that is why we all took part in this, to put a smile on your face! You could tell you were so excited and shocked to be the recipient of those gifts and that was exactly the desired reaction - Job done I think!

I hope the gifts are enough to tide you over till better times, it's nice to know you can look at them whenever you want and think "Collecting Vintage Star Wars rocks!!!"

Link would be nice as I am sure I will have a few choice words - the bloody gaul of it.

& BTW - you total & utter bastard Ed - I did not get a personalized thank you PM from you/bunch of flowers, not even a girly kiss on the bottom.

I will send it you in PM Frank. If anybody wants me to post it in public i will but i fear it may ruin the thread :)

PM Coming Frank

Mate, I thought this thread was a thanks, and anyway, who was waiting for a thanks?
I haven't read the RS thread, but sod them, whoever it was.

That thread is a crock of **** Ed, started by somone who gets off on annyoying people - I would ignore it

Any chance i could get a pm link too, im shocked that someone would try and dis this nice gesture !!!

It was a gift.....you said thanks.................it came from the heart................some people just require more stroking, but that does not include anybody on these forums.

Just to second or third what Ryan said.

I didn't agree to take part in this cos I thought I'd get a lovely big "thank you" PM, I did it to try and cheer up a fellow collectors who was going through a pretty **** phase in his life.
I'm not on TIG, I actually think they deactivated my membership cos I only joined the week it started and never checked in, so I haven't seen the thread. It's a bit sad that someone would do that, but it takes all sorts. Just let it slide, I think it's fair to say that person has an axe to grind and is using this as his latest attempt to wind people up. Sad really.

PM Sent Timbo :D

Lol, just realise I sent this a good few posts too late

Well its the thought counts...

Trying to put a negative spin on several recent nice gestures is exactly why that person has been banned from this site. Some people get a kick out of stirring **** unfortunately.

I missed all this?? how can anyone find negativity in what this forum can do for someone who is having a rough time??

Can someone sum up what has happened??

Josh was having a bit of a dig because Edd didn't send him a personal message thanking him for the gift - typical bullshit and note worth worrying about
