"I have been coming to ths forum on and off for a few years now and one thing that has remained constant is the bickering between vintage collectors and customizers in regards to their notion of repros hurting the hobby. Vintage collectors ALWAYS bring up the argument that repros are often sold to collectors fraudulently who don,t know any better. Iam calling b.s. Any collector who is worth his salt will not be fooled by any repro regardless of its quality . Any who are have not properly educated themselves about this hobby and have no business in this field until they have. However I very much doubt that the vintage collectors who are so vocal about their opposition to repros care the least bit about less knowledgeable collectors being defrauded. Stop pretending to be some altruistic crusader for ignorant (and gullible) collectors . The real reason you guys hate repros is because of how it will effect YOU. And how it will do so legitimately. As vintage pieces become more and more rare and susceptible to age through biodegration of the plastic while repros become more and more sophisticated , interest in repros will cotinue to increase for their affordability and better durability. This translates to an eventual and permanent crash in vintage collecting which in turn translates to a significant drop in value of vintage pieces as the bottom falls out on the market. Be honest. There is not one of you who has not justified the big money you have spent on your collections by convincing yourselves that it could also serve as an investment. Isn,t that so? You can,t bear to realize that you will certainly lose money when you decide to part with some items in your collections . So stop bringing up this ridiculous argument that you are concerned about others. You are not "purists". You are as greedy as those who sell repros dishonestly"
There you go you have all been told now by the moral compass of vintage collecting. You greedy, dispicable vintage snobs you!
