80's sci-fi show!

I need your help on this one.

I've been searching and racking my brains for years on this one but have come up dry every time and it's killing me.

During the mid/late 80's there was a sci-fi show on TV, I think it was on ITV on a Saturday afternoon. The basic premiss of the show was a family of American tourists get whisked down a wormhole/time warp into another dimension and/or time whilst on holiday visiting the great pyramids in Egypt (i think) and they are trying to find their way back home.

Does anyone else remember this show and can remember what it was called.

From what I recall I really enjoyed this show as a kid and it holds some great memories of me watching it round my grandparents on the TV they rented from radio rentals

I'm pretty sure it was the whole family that got taken away. And I remember something about aliens or an alternative universe/dimension.

It's driving me mental.

Just did a bit of digging, genuinely, I found a site that lists all TV shows with any element of time travel involved.... :lol: must have a look at some of them myself....glad to be of assistance.

I now truly feel like a fully fledged SWFUK member having been able to answer something on here ahead of some of the resident experts
