I know it's irrelevant now that it's been sold, but I find it very curious that leg had no COO, nor a raised bar where it should have been - and that lack of marking was on the unpainted leg. Never seen one without any marking whatsoever where the COO should be. Not saying it's never been discovered before, just something that may have been pretty noteworthy when figuring out 'value'.

Mine has no coo - same markings as the above.

I want a beater now so I can see if I can strip the paint off a leg.

Cool. I suspected it existed elsewhere, just have never seen a reference for it. Thanks.

As for stripping, it's a common practice for scammers who like to pretend they have pre-production pieces to do this. One of the most popular to do it to is Death Star Droid, as the chrome comes off easier than paint. From everything I have ever read, it is VERY hard to do it without leaving behind some evidence. To do it to just one leg is highly unlikely. It's probably nothing more than a missed spray app at the factory, which passed through quality control during assembly as well.

Ye I've seen a few stripped 3po's. I guess as you say its always going to be evident on the plastic under a microscope if stripper has been used.

When I was younger I did quality control at Coca Cola and once messed up some carbonation readings when tired and not feeling well resulting in £40k's worth of under-carbonated caffeine free diet coke being produced lol (luckily my immediate superiors covered my backside and i never did it again) - so I can totally see how stuff like this slipped through.

Yes, it was a Euro/No Coo figure, #4 on the below chart to be exact...
