Costa Rica have qualified from Group D.
Who'd have forecast that before the tournament kicked off.

England, Spain plus one of Italy or Uruguay all out at group stage, most open World Cup in a long time.

Whose everyone's bet on at the current moment?

Brazil? Argentina? Germany? Holland?
Be nice to see a country who has never won it before win it.

Still Brazil/Argentina final for me. The Europeans dont deal well with the Southern American conditions

We're talking about the football World Cup where Germany, holland, France and a couple of others look way better than the SA sides. Not sure what you're watching.

I am watching exactly the same tournament as you mate. I expect Brazil/Argentina to grow into the tournament and play better in the KO stages. Here is a fact - If Uruguay defeat Italy and Ecuador finish Runners up in their that's every single South American side into the KO stages. Surely that's not a coincidence that it would be the first time it would have happened since 1986. Every World cup held in South America has been won by a South American country. Over the course of the tournament the Southern Americans have more energy and deal with the conditions better

Good stat.

However, how many SA teams are there compared to European?
Mexico don't count.

Llalana is too old then. Bend the rules for one and you let all the egos in

Mexico are CONCACAF not South American, so they def don't count.

Can't see Brazil improving majorly. For goals they are relying on a guy (Jo) who didn't cut it at Everton! Fred, he looks like his surname may as well be Flintstone. Poor Neymar has to do it all on his own.

I always reckon each side has one bad game in them per tournament. The good sides figure out how to win when playing badly, or get lucky and play badly in a meaningless group game (Spain against Switzerland four years ago). So far Brazil have been bad twice! Saying that, the Frogs have been good twice, the German's once and the Dutch once (Spain) and once they were a bit ropey (Aus).

It should be a very open tournament.

I'm pretty sure Honduras aren't going through.
But generally i agree with you. The S. Americans, as predicted are doing very well.
To say, Germany, Holland and France are doing well urge; the Eropeans are doing well doesn't really work for me. With England and Spain already out, Italy quite possibly going out (and losing to Costa Rica the 2nd lowest ranked team in the competition) i also think Croatia will go out at the group stage, ditto Greece. I think Switzerland will go out in place of Ecuador even tho the Swiss were much fancied, again, it's the home turf factor. Russia also have a job to do, that one could be close. So out of the 12 European teams in the competition i only make 6 possibly going through. Don't see it being more than that. Out of the 9 S. American teams in the competition i have 8 to go through.

Having said that, of all the performances so far, i'd definitely say that our 3 Eurpean sides- France, Netherlands and Germany definitely look the best so far buy quite a way and could well go on and win it. Tho ii personally still think home turf might play a big part in it going to a S American team. Hard to call tho right now.

9 South American teams?

Mexico, Costa Rica, USA and Honduras aren't South American Teams.

Only South American teams are

Argentina
Chile
Colombia
Brazil
Uruguay
Ecuador

And I agree with Dark Sith Lord, all 6 will probably be in the last 16

I've just watched the shittest interview on sky sports ever.

Rob Lee. Tremendous player and very underrated. Could have had more games for England.

Basically complaining that we went out because we didn't take Terry, Cole, etc.

Wtf! He then says only England turn on their players - Rooney in particular. He argues the Argentinians don't ever turn on Messi. Erm..... Wonder why?

I'm sorry but the failed Golden generation need consigned to the scrap heap. Can't believe Gerrard is thinking about the Euros! Our best player in the last 10 years. But I'm sorry his legs have gone and it's time to step aside.

I obviously wasn't in luring USA but, yeah, I was lumping those others in tho I know technically not. But they may as well be for all intents and purposes. Either way my point was about the S Anerica. Teams doing very well. Call it S American teams and teams as close as makes no difference to S America.

Have really enjoyed watching Iran and Ghana today.

Fantastic games, especially the Germany vs Ghana game.

Love the underdogs. :D

Agreed mate, can't beat watching games like these, Iran and Ghana showing, passion, team spirit and total commitment that Germany Ghana match was superb in the second half, end to end ...superb 8)

because fifa rankings are based on the amount of drugs and prostitutes we send to fifa delegates when in town.
