On RS they have a thread looking back on 2012 and talking about goals for 2013 and I thought it would be fun to do the same here.

2012 was the year I restarted collecting seriously again. Completed two first 77 loose sets, sold them, had alot of random MOCS and found a more defined focus.

My goals for 2013 is to complete my 12 back MOC low cost set and hopefully add some 20backs to the collection. Should I win the lottery or do alot of offshore trips it would be nice to get one of my grails, either a complete Early bird set or an Uzay Stormtrooper MOC.

So, what about your goals ? and how did 2012 turn out collecting wise ?

Nice thread.

For me 2012 was all about going from solo collector to social collector especially through some great conventions. Met and made friendships with great people this year. My store display focus went from little to lots. I finally started a focus. Got many, many MOCs, a one ok a kind unique item and had lots of fun.

Goals for 2013 include going to more conventions and meeting some more collectors. Lots of acrylic cases and Detlof cases. Get 2 MOCs to finish a full 97 run. Finally get a VC Jawa and a Blue Snaggletooth. Add some to figures to my focus.

Should be fun.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this year by all the banter, buying, selling, trading, sandcrawler tits, investigations and information.

May the force be with you all..... Including you ewoks

well ive had my hands full this past year looking after my daughter full time pretty much shes 18 months old now, so collecting has been bottom of my list of priorities, i have collected a handfull of moc's this year with a budget of no more than £15 on each one give take a few quid! so thats been fun trying todo  and will continue todo throughout 2013. i also want too down size my loose minty collection in 2013

I Really started to get get back into collecting SW in 2012, first time ever to get involved in a Forum as well, cheers Iain, It has proven to be a wealth of knowledge and a great learning curve. Completed a full loose run of 77 figures, still a couple of last 17 to pick up.

Started down the road of the AT AT focus then decided that it wasn't really what I wanted to do with my collecting. I have an idea how I want my vintage display to finally look so will be working more on achieving that in 2013.

I would love all 77 figures graded at some point but need to upgrade some of my loose figures for that. I have acquired a few acrylic cases for some of my moc and would like to pick up some more graded moc for display.

I have an idea of the card backs I'm after so that should keep me going over the next few months at least. I'm planningon saving a bit for more select purchases........but we will see how that goes, can't resist a bargain either

Great thread phantom

2012 was the year when I nearly completed to spot all my variants in my loose collection and when I began to complete the first characters with all the coo and no coo that I have heard about.

2013, my goals is to finish spotting all my variants in my loosie collection and to complete some more characters with all the coo and no coo that I know about. I also hope to find some more vintage Danish star wars items :D

I also hope to learn some more about european variants in 2013.

First year of being really serious for me collecting my loosies. My goal is to complete the loose figures, inc blue snag. I will also figure a way of displaying them.

This year just gone by has got me back into collecting thanks to you guys. Bought a few vintage bits altho more focused on ships etc rather than figures. I have also kept up with the modern scene as i cant resist the ****! Like Todd, i am working on my display room which is my converted loft. I've got carded on the tilted ceilings and walls plus full displays round 3 walls but still need adding to. I can't show it on here as there's more modern than vintage tho' and don't wanna insult you guys 8)

This Year has been a blast. 8)

I have recieved some truly amazing items   Several Awesome MOCs for my favourite characters. I have also met some awesome Guys too!

2013 Goals - Attend CE2 and come home with some beauties, Grab a DT Luke a VC Jawa and some Tri Logos for my foci 8)

This year has been all over the place, yet interesting.
Got back on the boards in january I believe, after a long hiatus, and it's been fun, and I have to say, Karen made it all EPIC!!!

It looked like I had to stay away from buying because life kept throwing me curveballs, but managed to
keep at it, and at a fast pace.... (A bit out of control as well....) :p
Had some really interesting items pass through my hands, bought my grail, or as close to my grail as I ever will be.
So this year has been costly, but lots of fun,

As you know, I'm getting out to make a major life change, but I'm going to focus on my art next year, and will put my stuff up for
sale here, so hoping that will bring some pocket change in, so I'll be back on the boards in due time, and maybe, just maybe,
start again with the stormies... :p

So have a happy christmas folks, hope you lot get some vintage goodies under the tree this year, and have an awesome new year!

It's been a strange year for me as I've spent most of it out of the Uk and haven't been able to see my collection daily for the first time in years. As I'm also going off again for next year I've still a very long wait until I can get my collection displayed again. That said though I have still managed to keep on collecting (even if it is all spread out around the world), and have pretty much completed my Palitoy first 20 reseals. There's still a couple I'd like to upgrade so I'll keep an eye out for those next year and maybe a few more Palitoy 30 backs (hard to resist when they come along!).

This has been my first year on any sort of Board/Forum, so a big thanks to the person who contacted me on TIG to put me onto this site. Also a massive thanks to everyone else who's commented or passed on information to me. This is such a great place to see other peoples collections and hear peoples thoughts on all things vintage so I know that where ever I am I can always hook up with like minded people and I've got the extra bonus of being able to look at my own collection!

Keep at it and wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year, hopefully we'll all get a little further with what we're focusing on.

Ian

need to upgrade a few loosies to complete my mint run of the first 21, and really want to add a luke dt, would like to aquire some of the more difficult variants such as dark brown rs and ll jawa - boxed palitoy death star would be awesome! and any bargains i may come across on my journey.

on a personal level i have had a crap 2012 , the loss of my job and being rejected for ivf , being told that there was no chance of having children was truely devistating to me and in particular my wife. this place for me has been pure escapism and i enjpy reading and taking part int this fantstic forum. so thanks lads

2012 has been a great year for me collecting wise. I have finally managed to get the one ship I have always wanted through out the years of my collecting, an Imperial Shuttle!! So I am well chuffed with that. Also met many many great people from the forum at FF1 and FF2.

I have progressed massively with my MOC collection this year. I decided to concentrate on ROTJ cards first, although that hasnt always stuck as other temptations have come along. But I reckon overall I must have added over 30, which is a massive year for me. 2012 saw me break the £100 mark for a MOC having usually stuck to the usual £30 - £40 ones. It is also the year I completed my first major deal with someone, bet you can guess who that was!!!! It was a big commitment for me as I had never negotiated that much money before, but it was well worth it and added some lovely cards to my collection.

As for 2013, I will be continuing with my MOC's, hopefully getting nearer to completing my ROTJ run, or as near as. Might also contemplate a loose collection, already started now with a nice DSD.

Good luck everybody in there collecting in 2013. I'm sure this forum will continue to grow and grow next year.

A very Merry Christmas to all of you, it has been a great year on here for me and hope next year will live up to the expectation.

Great idea thread.

Well this year has been about starting to really get into vintage from a collecting viewpoint. Which then leads onto next year which I want a complete loose collection and sort out my main moc focus, thinking esb 41 backs

Crazyhazy that is one thing I always love about this forum, no matter what the problem is, anybody on here is always willing to listen and give their hole hearted support, it is a great place to escape as you say and a place I will always visit whether I am collecting or not.

Anway, back to topic!! :D

Great thread Erik...

2012 was my first year on SWFUK and I am still no closer to finishing my loose run (well I am stocked up on original weapons now). But what I do have now is a son with more MOC's than me, a few baggies (thanks to Franks influence), the beginning of a Walrus Man focus and a brother who's pilaged my loosies and is bolting ahead of me with his own collection.

What a great year though, learn't so much about MOC's on here, even got my first MOC. Had a great day at FF1 (still not able to talk about missing FF2), won competitions, run competitions, helped out (hopefully), got help and advice, and really enjoyed my time on this forum. :D

Looking forward to getting some of those Last 17 figures in 2013 and finishing my loose run, or expanding my WM focus, or maybe even following the way of the baggie. Either way I am so glad I can use eBay for browsing but make my real purchases in a place that I feel comfortable and trust the sellers, good old SWFUK...

..... and its probably worse than you can imagine

Well at the beginning of September I had a graded Luke and nothing else but with the help of my brother, this forum and evilbay i am but a few short of a complete loose set.... altho i do have some repro's to replace (jr, may need to raid your surplass stock of weapons  )

Next year will be about completing my loose set, getting my display together and concentrating on my focus of luke jedi oh and getting round to showcasing it on here, but im having real trouble uploading, even via a hosting site!! So dont expect to see anything too soon

Great thread.

Highlight for me is starting to collect again after all these years, and a very large part of that is discovering and getting involved in the mighty SWFUK. Wish to thank everyone for being awesome (lets not go all mushy!).

Always wanted to finish the old set of figs so I'm looking forward to finding the final 9 I need. And a few improvers. Oh and some more major variants. And an Interceptor would be nice.... gawd this could get addictive!
Have added around 50 loosies this year, quite a few from the fine folks herein. Particular thanks to Joe for a great 1st deal, was such a buzz to get those figs arrived, and to new father Iain for brilliant bundles of vintage goodies.
It was also great to meet, via this forum, top fellow Scott 'Twisted Metal'. Would be splendid to get to a few events to meet more of you all.

Here's to another year of vintage mayhem! Cheers, Dave.

2012 has been my first year on the boards and its been a blast. The highlight was probably the infamous sand crawler photo. Epic!

It's been great to meet quite a few of the people from SWFUK at FF and MEM.
I was a bit dubious about joining a forum at first but everyone's been cool. I'd like to think I've learnt a little bit and ended my random newbie purchases to concentrate on a Jedi run.

For 2013 I'd like to finish up my Palitoy Jedi run and hopefully pick up a few more 12/20 backs. I think the ESB run can wait until the year after.

Here's to a great 2013 on SWFUK.

This year i started from scratch collecting loose vintage figures. Got sidetracked and bought a lot of rebel/imperial/fett figures. Started my Rotj moc run and B- wing focus. managed to finish the loose run and upgrade some too.

Next year will be spent on the display side of things and looking for more b wing mocs (Leddy etc)
