Yes it's a decent book, i used to use it a lot when it came out as the photos are good and at the time the prices weren't THAT far out for most stuff. It's probably well out of date now.
I'd be very cautious about using any book as a price guide. Prices fluctuate ridiculously at times and at the end of the day a piece is only really worth what someone is willing to pay.
eBay can be a reasonable guide on fairly common stuff as would asking people that have bought and sold a lot of stuff recently.
I have used this for years to catch up on old figures. It's great for photo references, but the prices don't at all seem accurate to the stuff I've seen going on eBay. So yeah, out of date I'd say.
I'd love them to do another one. Not just for the Kenner line, but for all the Hasbro figures that have been produced since '05. There have been hundreds since then.
i thought the prices in this book were well out for loose figures (not sure about carded yet)
but to be honest if your after mint figures they are quite accurate even low for some.
i was seeing figures going for about £3 or £4 each but after receiving a few itsa 50/50 if the description true.
and after searching for a tie fighter and x wing on ebay for an hour or 3 ive hardly found any decent mint ones.
theres tons of vintage stuff on ebay but its hard to find quality stuff , this is collection is going to be harder than i thought .
You can usually pick up carded for way under the prices stated in this book as well. I'm guessing if they were case fresh minty mint then the prices might be relevent. Mainly use it for reference perposes rather than the prices.
