12back cardback Luke Skywalker COO

no matter if brown paint or white hair...they were definatley NOT ONLY released in the beginning! I agree though as my large HK DT Luke has brown eyes and there is lots of brown eyes, but still: this is no way to determine when it was released on a loose figure!

On the Ben: I never payed that much attention on it! I only know that the "whitest" of all Bens were relaesed also later! (if not ONLY later)....

though....

I don't claim to be an expert but what I consider to be the early first 12 is something that interests me a lot, I can't say with concrete proof which loose figure came of which card and which came first and I don't think anyone can really and that's cool because where would be the fun in that :D

My focus is the early hk figures and I'm basing the brown paint theory on the information I have gathered from other collectors and my study of many 12 back figures still attached to the card and pictures of EB kits. After a while of studying the early figures its almost like you get a feel for them if that makes sense with there paint and sculpts etc. it's my opinion that the early hk figures came with the brown paint on the eyes, I've also found that the paint on the hands tends to be a pinkish colour (leia, Han and Luke and Ben) or slightly yellowish, all the loose ones I have had through my hands have this in common with the brown paint and the hk coo.

Do your white hair bens have a hk coo and if they do what colour is the eye paint? On the one hand you close me down by saying that's not correct (white hair) then you say you never payed that much attention to it when I reply, I can't see how you can say I'm wrong (not claiming to be right  ) and then say you never payed attention :?

June I can't say for certain that all the EB kits came with green weapons and tbh I'm pretty sure they didn't, I have been lucky enough to have had a thew of the figures (loose) I spoke of above through my hands complete with the original green weapon. Also I've noticed that palitoy 12 backs did not come with the early release sabers with the letter on the hilt which would make sense as i would presume the US had the figures before the uk and the rest of the world.

I would agree with you on that,

I think it's fair to say that not all EB kits came with Green weapons, abd again not all early release figures had lettered sabers

Hi Guys. Sorry to go off topic a bit and sorry to the OP i hope you dont think i am highjacking your thread but while we are on the subject of translucent weapons and earlybird kits I was wondering if anybody could advise whether the following chewie is complete with a green bowaster or not. It was sold to me as such but I am not convinced,

Sorry about the poor pics

thanks guys! :)

Did you put the bow caster under the light? By the look of the pic to me it looks translucent but looks like the Dark Blue/green Version.

Maybe this will help, check out the different chewie versions.

It looks to be translucent like June said Liam, the best way to find out for sure is to hold it up to a lamp or the sun on a clear day, some of them are blue or blue/green, looks legit to me mold wise though

Hi June and Mike

Your help is much appriecated Thanks

I have no chance of holding it up to the sun at this of time of year and especially with the crap weather at the moment

I will put him under a light.

Thanks guys

I'm not so sure about the letters on the hilt ones not being released on Palitoy 12 backs -

I'm almost 100% certain that the the Ben I have that came with an opened Palitoy 12 back (very white hair), was the original figure for the card back. It is an A back card and had the flat tip sabre with letters on it. I also remembered the slight aqua shade to the sabre from my childhood collection but I stupidly touched the tip and it broke off! I get the feeling these first released sabres are quite brittle now. I know as it's from an opened card it would never stand up in a court of law but as you can see from the above it's looking like the Palitoy Luke 12 back A card came with the flat tip first issue sabres and I wouldn't be surprised if Ben and darth follow suit. One other thing is that I also remember from my childhood these first released figures came with the green/black weapons. This should be fairly easy to find out by people looking at their Palitoy MOC 12 back's.

Also here's another thread to show you how close the release timeline is looking between kenner and Palitoy -

I know mate, that's the first palitoy 12 back I've seen with those sabers but thats no suprise as from what I read in the other thread that card is like rocking horse ****!

You live and learn :)

I've got a sealed cut card A back Luke with the same flat tipped sabre that I remounted to a card back . I looked for so long to find the right card back with little damage to re mount it to and in the had to settle for a B back as I just couldn't find the right A back. Fortunately I haven't seen one since mounting it (a few years ago now), so I have no regrets but it does show you these A backs are hard to come by. I also can't believe that the one I found was a cut card, a shocker for sure!
