I've been a member of this forum for 1 english year and wanted to put my pipe in, slippers on, don the Savvy Row silken smoking jacket, recline into my Wingback Chesterfield next to the fire and reflect on my collecting time of the last 12 months of SWFUKery.
The loose collection
I wanted to try and finish this off asap, but the last 17 proved a bit of a sticky situation. I initially only aimed to get the main figures and maybe not the weapons, and have blown that limitation away, quickly assembling the majority (Iain and others - thanks). I even diverted from my original plan with 'not getting the max rebo band' and in fact got the Max Rebo band complete. Just yak, a(sshole)wing pilot, warok and luke poncho to go. Still annoyed not to have replaced my repro Amanaman staff as yet. But will do. It shall be burnt... ritually.
Along with those 4, my Lando General needs a cape and gun. And the minty spare stormie I had (well.. he was whiter than my original one) went to that 'Deber'.
I wasn't going to go the main variation route, and I'd not even heard of COOs.. BUT having attended many fairs this year the lure of wanted to buy more figures is too much, so I will take a casual jaunt down that lane. If anyone can help with finishing me off.. (cough Nick IOW cough) then please... lend me a hand.. ;P
Best purchase: The max rebo band in complete condition with instruments etc, for £25 on an ebay auction that finished at a unsociable hour.
Biggest regret: many, many yakfaces
The episode 1 carded run
Done. Got the entire run of the basic figures MOC. Maybe need to get some star cases.. but I found it harder to shift these on clearout so thought "its a decent set of figures, I'll complete it". Swimming jar jar, Padme Ascension Gun, Holo Sidious were a little tricky. I shan't progress from there in the near future, I did contemplate the two packs, the promo packs and some of the other bits. Still might get these as I go along. But not at the moment.
Best purchase: Padme Ascension gun, got for 15squid (sounds mad, but is an annoying figure to find mint)- due to listing error as a princess leia figure!
The modern (The Slave Leia Collection)
I sold most of my random collected stuff, kept a few pieces but I was torn between wanting to start a modern focusy style collection. Something that went across the width of the star wars universe. I narrowed it down to ponda baba, greedo, slave leia. Leia won. I now have a really nice collection of Slave Leia figures. My aim was action figures on card or in box. Not too bothered by the statues. I've got kubrick, unleashed, VC. ,POTF, Legacy, the lego figs, etc. Just a couple to go. But there are a few little bits and bobs still to get. Tempted to branch into the bric-a-brac of the brand.
Best purchase: Slave Leia unleashed. This goes for OTT prices on ebay. Managed to pick one up for £25 and should get some back from the Padme Unleashed (perky norks) that came with her.
Biggest regret: Had a chance at the Original Trilogy Collection 'starburst' carded Slave Leia for £15, but the £18 postage annoyed me. The last one I saw went for over £60 and postage was £20ish.. argh. Hopefully get this at Anaheim, its a Canadian thing.
2015 target: get the pop vinyl, the starburst and anything new that appears.
Vintage MOCS
I'm not sure I can ever afford to go down the real MOC focus route, but have picked up some leia MOCs. I want to get all of the leia's on a card and go from there. I did pick up one of my most played with figures on a cardback the black bespin guard and would love to also get my other fave, the cloud car pilot.
Best purchase: The Leia Organa ROTJ Clipper to start it all off. It appears to be a very rare item, and despite its faded and yellowed its something I can love.
Vintage ships
I didnt want to get into ships, but having lots of space due to selling everything off, and loose beater ships being reasonable, i thought... why not. I like the getting hold of parts side of it all, so will continue with my beater love and try to repair.
Best purchase: The beaten up xwing from a charity shop from my mother and the free falcon & atat someone gave me over xmas.
Aside from all that, its been a blast on the forum and hope I'm fitting in with this most excellent community.
