So - no images but I just went a pre-ordered the new Xwing and Tie with the Smart Brick in it. To be clear the models look like ****, so I am not expecting anything there, but I am super curious to try the brick out and judge it for myself rather than the internet do it for me - also, I kinda think it will be fun to place spaceship battle with my 9yr old in the sitting room.

that said - the brick does look limited right now - but with firmware updates that could easily change, as I said the models suffer (as does the price.....) - but one thing I do love is they finally ditched the phone - so this is digital without the devices (Granted Hasbro have been doing this for as far back as the 90's - but hey).

Very interested to see how this 'plays out'....

Made the seller an offer of £82 on this... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30672418...641385000|ni_bn:1&_trksid=p2380424.m570.l5997

I have made lower offers previously, which were declined. My last offer was also declined. Fair enough I thought.

My girlfriend decided to bid on it and won, at £80 late Wednesday evening, and paid for it Thursday morning.

This morning she received a refund as a result of it being cancelled due to damage.

This is basically they guy not getting as much as he wanted, right?

Will need to keep an eye out to see if it is listed again anytime in the future.

That sucks - if someone wants a specific number then just set a BIN price and be done with it - I hate when people cancel because a 'free' auction didn't hit their expectations- bottom line is something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

Is it worth her asking to see images of the damage and suggest she's still willing to buy, just to call his bluff?

To be honest - No. You'd be wasting your time and likely they'd never reply anyway and I think the seller is allowed to cancel the sale, so there isn't much recourse - Unless you want to have some fun and see if you can wind them up somehow, then have it as they say.

Chalk it up to having to deal with idiots on the internet and move on.

Be interested to see if they reply. I am expecting them to relist it at some point.

Looking at their current Lego listings, including the one I went for, They have been listed every week since the beginning of January, without a single bid on any of them.

Unfortunately, part of the general day to day dealings of idiots on eBay.
Hopefully what goes around comes around.

It's a sad fact that this happens all the time, I've had this done a couple of times and its infuriating. Lots of twatty sellers I'm afraid.

I couldn't resist these - more curiosity than anything.

I think any thoughts need to be split in two here - first you have the sets, which obviously have to accommodate the Smart Brick and as such can never been 'screen' accurate and because of the cost of the Smart Brick the sets need to be built using the least number of parts to try and keep things affordable (they fail on that front) - so the designers have clearly lent into the deformed style and frankly, they look great - in the brick they are wayyyyyy better than the images and videos show, and once you understand how the firing mechanisms work you understand why some sections have that 'unfinished' look - they are not unfinished - and overall these are built as out and out play sets and work very well as playlets.

The other is the Smart Brick itself. As a piece of engineering it's a cracker - the charging and Bluetooth sync work perfectly, the motion activation is cool and it screams quality. Once in the sets the sounds are cool (lasers and hyper drives) and when you battle the X-Wing and Tie against each other it is fun - for a few minutes, but that is it. In truth the sounds are not those from the films (maybe a licence issue) the noises the characters make is nonsensical and overall the effect isn't anything Hasbro hasn't been doing since the 90's and frankly any kid with half a beat of imagination can do with no Smart Brick. which then brings me to the cost - it is just tooooooo much, yes the price of R&D needs to be covered, but the overall play value of the brick doesn't stack up to the overall price point of the sets - and not all sets come with bricks and in the case of the Falcon, multiple bricks are needed really.

I love the innovation and effort, I think what has been delivered is slick and executed perfectly, but the end result is just too lightweight to rise above that of a gimmick right now - Maybe when they move outside the IP world and more firmware updates come down that expand the capability we might see better use cases. I am happy to play with them and form an opinion based on actually building and trying these out - again, flying the ships around the room and blasting each other is fun, and the hyperspace sound and light on the falcon is a great effect - but it just isn't enough for the cost. For me the sounds need to movie accurate and the speech and sound from the characters likewise, hopefully more to come development wise.

Got a very small Lego "collection".
Had only the Boba Fett helmet but over the last month or so added these two.
The Mandalorian helmet was on offer so had to have that to go with the Fett one.
The Cantina I got from my kids for my birthday following an "amusing" conversation with my son where he was trying to work out what set to get me without asking:
Son: whats your favourite Star Wars film dad?
Me: Star Wars
Son: yeah whats your favourite though?
Me: Star Wars
Son: yeah but which one?
Me: Star Wars
Son: WHICH FILM?!!?
Me: the first one
Son: ok
Me: Not the Phantom Menace
Son: what? which one then?
Me: Star Wars
Son: which ones that?
Me: Episode 4
Son: <looks at me like i'm an idiot>
