Looks stunning, were going to be near this beautiful castle and beach, the people are so nice and welcoming and we're a lot closer to Scotland as well, will enjoy our time away in the camper and spend more time enjoying the fresh air instead of driving up from Nottinghamshire
Can't beat a move to the country, we moved to a farmhouse 3 years ago, gamechanger!

Its a cracking place were moving to and the bonus is 0 crime reported in the area....winner winner

Indeed they do, chore if there's anything specific you need as you can't get much here, but a small price to pay Martin, yes I rememebr we had a chat, was it really that long ago, time waits for no man.
I am myself returning to the fold as best I can & trying to make en effort to post more, we need the forum alive & kicking again, but it's inanely quiet now, huge shame as we don't want to loose this SW home, which is how it feels.

Looks fab Russ, the crime rate here is also very low, you can as good as go out & leave your keys in the dorr without fear of coming back to an empty house, you just can't buy that kind of peace of mind.

That's what I want for the future, the village life and feeling safe. Nottinghamshire is becoming more and more dangerous on a daily!!
There's a lot to be said for peace and quiet, trading noisy traffic and drunks on a sat night, for Barn Owls, Roe Deer, Badgers, foxes, hares, Buzzards, Kestrels, clear skies at night, no light pollution thousands of stars, fresh air.
The village has a village green, social club, everybody is friendly…can't beat it, douse wonders for your headspace.
As you say Frank…should have done it Donkeys years ago.

For me, life got in the way from around 2016 onwards (all good, might I add!) and my collecting fervour diminished. A couple of years back I enjoyed getting back in to collecting new TVC Stormtrooper cards, and when my appetite was satisfied with that side of things I slowly gravitated back to vintage. It felt good! I was surprised at the more affordable pricing on a lot of vintage MOCs compared to ten years ago when I was last active on here.
I'm enjoying catching up on some old threads, and reconnecting with old friends too. This particular thread deserves a big thumbs up, Mike- good on you for keeping the forum fires burning, so to speak! I am surprised at how many previously active members have dwindled, though- I assumed it would be as busy as ever when I came back recently. But then I've been guilty of stepping away myself.
Now that my collecting itch has been reignited, my first thought was to come back to the forum- and I have to say it gave me a warm and fuzzy felling, like coming home after a long stay!
I'm afraid I don't have any answers myself as to how we can bolster activity on here, but what I will say is that I've had a lovely welcome back from you all and that's what makes SWFUK unique. I'm sure many more old timers like myself will find their way back, and equally the new collectors coming on board will quickly see what a great space this is to share our common interests. Star Wars is the glue that keeps us stuck togetherr, and I'm so glad of that!

I think it's natural progression of everyone's life's as they get older. I like to think that although it's a lot quieter, it's still here whenever anyone wants to drop in. I find that comforting.
Yep getting older does make a difference, but I think the passion never seems to wane. For me this place is a safe haven away from all the things in life that get in the way

Not much happening on here atm
I've mentioned before that I'm a member of quite a few other diverse forums and there does seem to be less activity on some these days. It's probably a combination of things. A few days ago I made a post on another forum and no-one has yet replied. It wasn't a quesion but was hoping for some thoughts from others. Places like Reddit are very popular and you do tend to get almost immediate replies on a very broad area of subjects.
Although no longer actively collecting, my interest remains and I tend to be more of an observer but like to contribute if I can.

Shame isn't it
I think it's a combination of things. SW collecting/collectors (at least the OT) are all in our late forties or fifties. A lot of us have kids and other commitments that keep us away from forums. Add to that a lot have moved onto Facebook and it's a veritable ghost town compared to 10 or even 20 years ago on here. I think the other big SW forums have gone the same way. I was never on TIG but I don't think it's shooting the lights out and RS seems to have finally disappeared up its own ass. In the case of the latter, it's amazing that people didn't want to hang around and be patronised to **** by those deemed worthy.

Here's a quote from another one of my forums, albeit a few years ago:
"A few years ago it used to be quite active but now its almost dead. There's rarely any new post anywhere on the forum. What happened?"
That particular forum is also a good 20 years old and just about still going.
Yes, it's a shame but I remain positive that Swf is one that survives a draught or two. Perhaps with Star Wars 50th anniversary coming it will get more interest once again from both new and old members.

Everyone who's watching the World Cup tonight is asleep.
As someone who's new to forum(s) in general and who missed the 'forum glory days', I think threads like the toy of the week are a good call. This is because they allow all to showcase what they have, whether it be a 90 AFA grade Lily Ledi carded, or a car boot sale beater.
I note the comments above about forums that could be patronising. I would have zero interest. Everyone of us will have different life experiences, and different absolutes SW collecting knowledge. I have found this forum to be welcoming and helpful, as well as an opportunity to showcase and discuss some of my stuff. Thanks guys for that. And, I apologise for spartan posting the last few weeks - life got busier than usual so it's the hobby stuff that has to give (for a bit anyway).
