Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone's come across this kind of mis paint/ unpainted torso on other figures?

This guy has a completely plain front torso and a normal (painted belt) rear?!

He has a straighter stance than others I've had too, painted boots and the COO reads Hong Kong but it's almost looks stamped over, not at all defined.

Please take a peek at the pictures, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I hope this post is in the right place too.

Thanks for your time :D

Sure its not just paint wear? Could be a factory error?

Certainly different. 8)

First off, it's just a simple Smile factory figure - the same as the one on the left. I believe the Smile variant of the RS is the one most commonly found in the UK. If you don't know what Smile is you can find out more about the factories used to make Star Wars figures at https://swspaceclub.com/wbobafett/factory-codes/

You can also find out more about the different coos available for the Rebel Soldier at https://swspaceclub.com/wbobafett/coo-guide-3-0/esb/rebel-soldier/#a

This figure is a family III figure. Family I was produced by Kader. Family II by Unitoy and Family III by Smile.

It's hard to tell 100% if the figure is a factory paint error figure or has had the paint deliberately removed. I would suggest it's not wear as the rest of the figure is in excellent condition and the RS is not known to lose its paint in the same way as the Bespin Guard for example (where the figure is commonly found with all the gold trim missing).

It will be worth checking the figure under UV light to see if there is signs of paint removal.

As to rarity and value this is not considered a variant. However, focus collectors and people who collect paint or factory errors are often prepared to pay a premium for what would otherwise be considered a common figure

Thanks all for the info and the links, TheJabbaWookie

The paint has definitely not been deliberately removed, I'm 100% sure of that.

Unlike the Bespin Guard and Leia Bespins gold piping, the paint quality on the RS is good and durable, the front part was definitely paint free when it was assembled.

I've had him for years, always held onto him because of his unusual paint free torso.

I thought it's likely a factory error that got through QC but I've never seen one like it and wondered if there's anyone with similar "errors" on figures?

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge 😊
