Need some input guys!

I'm looking to pick up a good value display case that doesn't take up too much space but still holds a fair amount. I currently have a black detolf and black billy bookshelf but now I'm looking to add a case that's a combination of the two (decent amount of shelving/space but with glass panels/doors to keep the dust out).

I've been having a look around and there are some decent looking cases for around £150 but the majority seem to have mirrored backs and I'm not too keen on those.

Would love to see pictures of some of SWF members cases if people don't mind sharing (as well as other info like supplier & cost)

Thanks!

Interested to see what is suggested also as I desperately need something more that 2/3 shelves.

Carl, if you have the space and aren't fussed about doors then I would definitely recommend the large billy: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60265281/#/40263848

Size wise they are beasts! Far bigger than most display cabinets, so you do need the space in a large room because one would probably dominate a small one and look a bit out of place.

I've been toying with the idea of getting another one and just adding doors (£35 per door http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/30275564/ ) but still not sure. I guess I'm also interested to hear if anyone has added doors to their billy cabinets!

Cheers Joe, I've looked at them before but I think I'm going to end up with individual shelves unless something else turns up, we have chimney breasts in both rooms as well as picture rails so the alcoves and height combo are a pain to get something that maximises both.
I just really need to persuade her we don't need a second child and then I can have the spare room :?

This isn't what I'm looking for at all but on my travels I noticed this small wall mountable case on offer on Amazon and thought some people might be interested in getting one for their loose figures: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Interlink-Furniture-99800800-Display-Collecty/dp/B002PHLZJQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1471429380&sr=8-3&keywords=display+cabinet

my ones with mirrored backs worked out at around £150 each buying in bulk

you can also get them without mirrors and Argos do something similar http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6141303.htm

Do be careful when adding doors, they have changed the fixing points recently (c12-18 months ago), so teh new versions of teh doors do not fit the older style cases! They have also changed the glass shelf fittings around the same time too.
I bought a set of four doors and couldn't fit them to the existing cases, had to buy two new cases and nothing IKEA were willing to do to help compensate either way..

I was gonna say, you can get various types of doors for the billy bookcase, and glass shelves. They are a good option, not too pricey. The trouble I found with them and the reason I didn't go for them is the shelves are not very deep. Good for Mocs but you won't get ships or bigger items in there. I bought some sturdier deeper Ikea cabinets with glass doors, think they're called Larp. Annoyingly they don't make them anymore and I couldn't get more glass doors for the second cabinet. Think they do a new equivalent but they're a bit more pricey than the Billy.

Cheers Ross - it's the snow white of the cases ;)

I like your cases quite a bit Andy, seems you can fit quite a lot in too on each shelf.

Steve- Yep I heard that about the doors, I've only had mine since early this year I think so hopefully I'm ok! I might give the doors a go on the one I have and see how I get on with them.

Andy- That's very true about the billy bookcases, not much room for ships but luckily I don't have any to display! :D

I have 2 of these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6141303.htm but I paid nowhere near the retail price (under £40 each)

i am also in the same boat --- tired of looking at cardboard box full of toys  I like Rich200 cabinet :D

bookshelf seem like a good options but would rather have sealed unit with light --- so can light it up at night and keep the dust away.

will see how much a customized cabinet will cost me --- know a joiner local to me so may ask him for quote or worse case save up for ikea one
