    Happy birthday Spoons

Thanks all, I don't often check in here but have started getting weekly emails from SWFUK and saw my name - I very much appreciate the good wishes. Hope you are all doing well

The Vintage Rebellion Podcast : Episode 119

You’ll have to arrange an open day Jon, I’m sure the rest of us would be more impressed than Jason 😃

    R2D2 metal from 1980s

He’s a Takara Zetca R2D2, maybe £50 loose? You mostly see carded for sale so a hard one to judge. A fairly niche item

    Loose display cabinet background ideas?

Love seeing this Edd, I’ve still got my loose figures in an ancient Ikea Bertby with a plain back. What I found interesting is that you have ROTJ at the top and SW at the bottom. Is this due to 8D8 and the spacing or you being a relative youngster and Jedi is first and foremost?

    Xwing identify help

It is the grey Palitoy one that this thread discusses - it’s based on the Kenner mould but has no electrics. All X Wings are stamped 1978, they didn’t change the moulds for subsequent years. Hope that helps

    Han Hoth Experts? Help Needed

My 30 back and 41 back both have paler faces than yours @Hod10 so I think you are right in saying 45 onwards. Kenner 41 backs and earlier also have paler faces

    Han Hoth Experts? Help Needed

Hello @Hod10 I’m no expert on COOs but think you could be right about the Palitoy 45A or B. This 45A is a reseal but apparently with the original figure - same COO as you. Looks good for the 45B too, the one question is whether the 45A paint job is quite the same. Could it also be the tri logo...

    Import Tax.

Just a bump for the most useful thread on SWFUK. Frank’s sage words are still working and a £72 refund this week - thanks @Frunkstar

    Changing Collecting/Fan Demographic

I was looking through my CE photos Edd and thought exactly the same - mostly pics of droids from prequels, sequels and TV series. I'm not even sure I saw a Darth Vader cosplayer We are definitely in a new era of SW, but that's no bad thing. Keeps it fresh for generations to come.

    US Smooth Seal ESB Cards

Only that the 47 backs seem to have a lot of smooth seals. Not sure abut any other issue

Re: The vintage shop directory **2022 Update**

Good to see this still growing. The Nicholas Building needs removing from Sheffield as the stalls moved to the indie arcade

Any Sheffield people about? Rare leaflet.

Looks great, I’ll see if any of my neighbours went there (I’m a displaced southerner) @Pulsar might remember it

    Import duty question

The historical interest bit is what is key - they are toys but collecting them is preserving history. The item being 'a historical toy more than 40 years old and still in its original packaging' should suffice as a description on the form. These things now really do belong in museums :-)
