Echo Base Live 8th April - Anyone here going?

I'd just like to say thank you all who came down, was fantastic to meet so many of you and have a good chat (in fact I think I spent more time chatting than buying!) Some of the stuff there was incredible to see in person, and it was so nice to put more faces to names and to see everyone just...

Thanks Edd, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there with the reasoning behind approving posts etc; there's a heck of a lot of spam and negative posts but already they seem to be easing off so hopefully the approval system will be lifted soon. The quality/quantity issue is also very valid!

The search function is horrendous! A lot of people use Facebook on iPads etc and on tablets, the search bar within groups still hasn't been implemented! Definitely one of the biggest obstacles in researching on there.

One of Facebooks pain in the ass limitations on the pinned post is you can't seem to link to individual posts (which is crazy)! Screen grabs added to the files section might be a way round that. I agree it'd be useful to have them on hand. I've also been speaking to Jared a lot lately about...

I'm not going to get into a dispute about Echo's pinned post other than we're really tying to find the best way of doing things. It's common sense not to provide eBay links if an auction is live or recently finished, and it's easier to stop all links to eBay as people were constantly posting...

We don't apply that rule hard and fast though, there's a lot of weapon queries which usually get pointed to TIG, the baggie scandal was pointed to here etc. It mostly applies to eBay; we have info topics weekly where we list a lot of reference resources and so on. Relevant links are usually left...

    Today on Facebook...

Just a few things about why we're approving posts for the next few days - with the current hysteria regarding Leia Organa figures peaking at ridiculous prices this has naturally resulted in an avalanche of duplicated, sometimes pretty toxic posts about the current state of prices. For that...

The baggie opening angered me greatly; the 'it's my item to do with as I please' attitude which tries to serve as an excuse is really wearing thin. Unfortunately, one can't seem to reason with such people why it's a bad thing. 'But there's gazillions of them!'

Forums aren't dead, not at all; I'd imagine they have a very good 10 years left in them before they follow the old bulletin boards and email user groups in being pretty quiet. What I did say, and there's no denying this, their usage has dropped over the last 3 or 4 years significantly. This was...

Are you admitting it's generally insulting then?

Glad that's all clear then. As I said yesterday, this thread will continue to be counter productive to attitudes in all camps; for me that's the most frustrating thing.

Again, I never mentioned Echo and it's clear that groups were in their infancy. Please let it go Edd, it's really becoming rather repetitive. You hate it, that's fine.

I only provided some stats because Edd rudely suggested I couldn't. As I said when I posted them, they are pointless because they are two very different platforms with very different demographics and users. I really cannot keep stressing that I am not speaking on behalf of Echo, but people hear...

Trading groups however had not. If the scandal broke today where do you think the biggest spikes would be?
