Although a true piece of Star Wars toy history, personally I've always struggled to get excited about the Early Bird kit. So much so in fact that I've never bothered tracking one down, and hence unfortunately I cannot help with this thread. That's not to say however that the piece isn't significant, or that it doesn't have its fans and collectors, so I hope that some other forum members who do have more love for it can share theirs

Best I can do is the display stand part, which i managed to get for nothing a couple of years back. A US ebay seller was selling it alongside a bunch of loose figures - sold all the loose figures separately for the price I'd paid for the whole bundle.

I agree entirely with your view. I was offered one a couple of years ago for £800. Not sure whether that was a reasonable ask or not. I also didn't look up values as it wasn't for me. It obviously holds appeal/value for many collectors. However, I also can't get excited about it. I can't relate it to my childhood and I'd rather have actual figures.

All that said, if I were offered one for a bargain price I probably would consider it…

You make a very good point I forgot to mention regarding why I have the view of it that I do. It's simply of course that I grew up here in the UK with the Palitoy toys. We didn't get the Early Bird Kit in this country, hence I didn't have one as a child, and hence I have no nostalgic pull to own one as an adult. It's an interesting piece, but it's not exactly packed full of play value, and so there's no pull for me to own one for that reason either. Factor in that it's also always been an expensive piece relative to many of the other toys, and it becomes an easy pass for me as a collector when there are other things to spend my money on.

I think the EB certificate was a bit of a flop in terms of being anything of any real use & not being in the states we obviously never got it here in Europe & I don't feel I am missing out not having one, but it's a different story for the actual EB set, one thing I do regret never having bought years back, it's still rather plain & not overly exciting visually, but with baggies being my focus it's an item I feel I really should have in the collection, also awesome to know that the entire toy line actually started with baggies.

With the EB set itself, I got lucky. Picked one up around 2000 for £120.
Wasn't until 15 years later I found it has the DT Luke in it.

I agree with you both. I'd quite like an EB set. It also appears to display quite well. Fantastic luck to find it contained a DT Luke!

Here are my EB set, I got it many years ago in the 00s, not in perfect condition, I should have upgraded it years ago before prices got crazy.
