Wow impressiveOne of my favourite figures as a kid. Though I sometimes used him as a rebel soldier!
Here's 3 of the ones i have that are in my display room.
The first (12 back) and last (45a) card on which he appeared with the Palitoy Logo
And a miscard - the only way you can get him on a trilogo!

The cardback might be a bit dull, but the condition of it is not! What a beauty! Thanks for sharingJust the one MOC in my collection of this character.
Not one of my favourite figures and the cardback is a little bit dull too.
I was never sure why he has a plug chain hanging off his shoulder and holes in his hat?

The good old Death Squad Commander / incorrectly named Star Destroyer Commander, with the emphasis firmly on the old judging by the cardback photo... To paraphrase Mr Solo, where did they dig up that old fossil?! That bloke must be the oldest serving officer in the entire Empire! Not only do I not remember seeing that very elderly gentleman in Star Wars (presumably on a day out from his space care home), Kenner don't appear to have either, since the figure they made bears absolutely no resemblance to him.
The likeness and the artistic licence taken with the colour of his uniform aside however, I actually quite like the figure. Yes, it absolutely should have been Grand Moff Tarkin they made back in 1978 and not this geriatric Imperial, but he's still one of the first 12 figures made and for that reason alone he will always hold a special place in my affection
As for the figure itself, well there are variants aplenty here! The standouts are probably the Lili Ledy with its much darker grey uniform and of course the PBP 'Disco Boots' figure (the last 2 in the line-up below - N.B. the Disco Boots figure is holding the wrong blaster in the photos!... Oops). Anyway, here are my loose ones, plus a nice Palitoy 12B MOC.
From left to right:
Kader 1b Figure, M4b Kader blaster - Blue & red very thin insignia, textured uniform, brown eyes, Hong Kong COO, low 1977.
Unitoy 1a Figure, M1a Unitoy blaster - Darker blue & red very thick insignia, heavy eyebrows, smooth uniform, lighter grey, black eyes, Hong Kong COO.
Unitoy 1a Figure, M1a Unitoy blaster - Light blue & red thin insignia, heavy eyebrows, smooth uniform, lighter grey, black eyes, Hong Kong COO.
Unitoy 1a Figure, M1b Unitoy blaster - Very light blue & red insignia, smooth uniform, black eyes, Hong Kong COO.
Unitoy 1a Figure, M1b Unitoy blaster - Blue, red & purple insignia, smooth uniform, black eyes, Hong Kong COO.
Kader II Figure, 1b, M4a Kader blaster - Blue & lighter red insignia, textured uniform, brown eyes, Hong Kong COO, low 1977.
Kader 1a Figure, M4a Kader blaster - Blue only insignia, textured uniform, black eyes, Hong Kong COO, low 1977.
Kader China 2b Figure, M4b Kader blaster - Red only insignia, textured uniform, brown eyes, erased COO, low 1977.
Kader China 2a Figure, M3b Kader blaster - No insignia, textured uniform, black eyes, erased COO, low 1977.
Kader China 2b Figure, M3a Kader blaster - Dark blue & red insignia, textured uniform, lighter brown eyes, erased COO, low 1977.
PBP 1b Figure, M7b Kader blaster - 'Disco boots', very dark blue & red thick insignia, smooth uniform, brown eyes, glossy black, Hong Kong COO.
Lili Ledy - Kader China 2a Figure, M4a Kader blaster - Dark blue & red insignia, textured uniform, darker grey, black eyes, erased COO, low 1977.
That's some great info there, Lars! Thanks for taking the time to post it, and thanks too of course for your kind words about my collectionI did some research on this old guy. He is a sergeant in the movie and named Derek Torent in the movie, the actor who play him is Robert Van Kaphengst and he played 3 guys in star wars

I am also thinking maybe the figure had the correct colour and kenner did no mistake, to me his uniform look grey in the movie. Maybe the sergeant uniform was grey and the soldiers black ?
