Has anyone an idea if this is rare?

Found at a carboot for 20p. Can't find this variant of it for sale or been sold anywhere on the internet. The only place I found it was a star wars collectors site where someone bought a copy and he says he had never seen it before or knew it even existed. I listed it on eBay to try and gauge if it was rare and see how much interest it would get. Not really sure I have any intention of selling unless it turns out to be quite valuable. Just trying to find out if it is rare? Thanks.

Up to £195 with just under 3 days remaining. Very surprised, although them paying is another story.
Well that's great news and you never can tell with things like this. There are always certain ones that go for lots and it looks like you might just have one :)

Let us know what it ends at (and if they pay).

Will do. I learnt from experience if a collector hasn't got something and they want it they'll pay top money. Could just as easily be a phantom bidder so no celebrations yet😂

Ended at £200. Paid for within minutes of the auction ending. It was actually sold to a person who sells Star Wars memorabilia on eBay so I'd guess it may be worth even more than £200. Either way I'm happy with the outcome. Definitely one for you all to look out for in the future.

Yeah I was watching it, very good price. I know it's becoming popular to convert these old VHS to YouTube. You can imagine buying a video for £200 and you get 200,000 hits on YouTube, not a bad return.

That copy is pretty difficult to get hold of. There's the original Magnetic Films video in a paper sleeve which is hard to find because it the first release. There's also the really common one from the late 80's which has a white inlay in a plastic case. The one you had was released 82/83 when sell through video was uncommon which why it's hard to find especially in good condition. I would have put it at £200-300
