I'm after any info about the UK star wars fan club up to the mid late 80s. I want to do a bit of a focus on it for the podcast in some future edition. Any memory will do, any links to collections, or info about what people have (or had) would be fantastic.

Mark Newbold is helping out trying to dig out info. As there appears little doing the rounds.

There is a Vectis auction featuring some stuff coming up later this month

http://www.vectis.co.uk/Page/ViewLot.aspx?LotId=545102

If anyone wins these auctions, I'd love you to take some lovely pictures.

I've got a few Bantha tracks (from about 19-25), my original number, some glossy photos, the envelopes the stuff came in, the membership forms, adverts, catalogues (basic photocopied stuff) patches

I recall PIGCITY had some info about the woman who managed it, Maureen Turvey.

You can respond here, or pm me with stuff.. ta

I've recently rescued my childhood fan club kits from the attic.
A few items had been lost through time (patches, stickers etc.), but I've managed to re-assemble the ESB and ROTJ kits.

These kits are an instant time-machine, for me.
In these days of instant information, it's hard to describe a 12 year olds excitement of waiting for the postman to arrive with the latest quarterly Bantha Tracks.
The fact that it had also travelled from that mystical land of the USA, was just mind-blowing!

1981 ESB Kit. Missing the pencil (which hopefully is winging its way across the Atlantic, as we speak).

They look awesome mate, before my time sadly but nice to see what existed, and thankfully what still does.

The Star Wars fan club was initially run by Factors ETC, based in Beverly Hills. The original address for the club was P.O Box 1000, Beverly Hills, CA 90213. There is a clue in newsletter no 2 when the "Name the newsletter" contest was not open to employees of Factors.

Craig Miller was the main writer of the newsletter and conducted all of the interviews with the cast and crew. Lucasfilm later took control of the fan club from Factors.

I too would be interested in any information on the U.K branch of the fan club.

Craig.

Hi Neil,
As stated above, I've managed to re-assemble my childhood ESB & ROTJ Fan Club kits.
I've also got various letters/adverts etc. that the fan club sent me in the early 80s.
Glad to help with any info you require.

Cheers
Jon

I've not looked through this stuff in years! I kept it with numbers 1 to 136 of the Star Wars comics that I collected back in 1980.
