Mailer Boxes

Does anybody know if all the Kenner mailer boxes are the same size? i.e is for instance the mailer box for the Emporer the same as Ackbar?

I been told the Palitoy mailer boxes are different sizes to the Kenner mailers but was wondering if the Kenners are all the same size.

Just had a look for you. Out of the 7 Kenner individual figure mailers they all look pretty much the same except for the Emperor which is wider and Bossk which is both wider and longer. Hope this helps!

The survival pack I have is plain boxed Palitoy and it is larger than the regular figure box - in fact it seems to be same size as the Bossk mailer.

I thought I had the Kenner Survival mailer as I bought it at the NEC back in Sept with all the leaflets and I had just sent it off to get graded but UKG just contacted me saying it is a Palitoy one so obviously it wont be getting graded now as it's a mis match! Very frustrating as they have had it for two months.

So ive now got the leaflets but no box or pack to go with it, but I spotted the pack on Ebay but no box so trying to see if any other Kenner mailer box would do. Also dealing with a similar story with the Ackbar I sent for grading too, just not my week at all

Hi Iain, can you post a pic of the survival kit mailer you sent for grading?
Is Steve saying the box is Palitoy but the contents are Kenner?

Im waiting on it coming back from UKG (should be tomorrow) Steve at UKG says the box and the actual accessory pack are both Palitoy. To be fair I didn't know that much about them back when I bought it at the NEC in Sept so when I sent it off I didn't check and assumed it was all ok, never crossed my mind that it could potentially be a mixed lot with Kenner leaflets etc.

I will post up photos when it comes back.

I think I will start making a list and use some verniers to make accurate recordings of the sizes of all the different boxes. A bit OCD I know but hey it has got me interested now

Most of the kenner mailer boxes differ in size and also have text printed on them which is mostly exclusive to one particular figure (though not always the case)......the later over stock style boxes (blank) for ackbar and nien nunb are the same size, the kenner and pali survival kit box are the same size also but the kenner has the usa post address printed on the box opposed to the pali which tend to be blank over stock or have an address (uk) taped to the box

Exactly, what's that about?

All i can think of is they are under the impression that the pali SK did not come with the kenner insert.....which is incorrect

That is interesting news about the SK, I will contact Steve and ask him about this.

Sorry mate should of been clearer, I have never seen a palitoy SK with a catalog (not to say it's not possible) but deffo came with the instruction insert

What's the story with the ackbar?

Iain, i've seen Palitoy Ackbar mailers that had the Kenner character introduction insert included (got 1 myself), granted none were MISB so its a 50:50 scenario! Don't worry about getting a grade, will still look champion in a UKG case.

The Ackbar is apperntly a Palitoy and so is the box, they still aren't back as yet but I will give them a good inspection when they do and post up a few photos.

Im trying to get the full set of kenner and palitoy mailers and would like them all to be graded etc. Ukg did offer to case it all together but im a bit OCD about it and would like all to be correct and graded. Ive got a Bossk, Nien kenners and Palitoy Ackbar (thanks Marc), Nein and a Clipper Vader also to get graded. Have already got graded the Emporer and 4Lom Kenners.

The instruction leaflet looks a bit rough around the edges for something that has spent all those years in a mailer box and imo it should not have the catalog so I would lean towards it being pieced together myself

As for the ackbar I couldn't say with certainty, it looks to be a later overstock style box.....mailers are so all over the place with there Baggie/box combination, It's impossible to say what came with what especially when it comes to end of the line overstock mailers...

I see a lot of the ackbars and nn mailers with the overstock (no labels) boxes, bio inserts and mihk baggies coming up for sale in the states, they could be Kenner overstock or stuff sold in the 90s at big fairs in the states from uk sellers as a lot of that went on but this is all guess work and what if's

Heres a pic of a u graded ackbar with a mihk baggie.....I have only ever seen the mihk baggie ackbar with the bio insert so can see why UKG may have give it the KB

I think it's one of those things im going to have to put down to a lesson and that you are right the Survival Kit I bought has been put together. Means ive now got the Palitoy version and just need to find a Kenner one. The Ackbar same thing although it means I now have two Palitoy versions one has his weapon in the sealed baggie and one does not which is also still in a sealed baggie and both have the same box. Anyone else seen this?

Yeah it looks like it, ive emailed Steve at UKG to get his opinion on it so I will let you know what he says.

Update back from UKG, seems they would grade it like the Palitoy one pictured by momike with the Kenner leaflet and without the Kenner catalogue.
