Hey, guys! I´m from Brazil and just recently found out that a few of my childhood toys, which I still have, are worth good money. I have them since forever, can´t recall how long, but I was born in 1984, so I guess I should have my 4-5 years old.

Anyway, I´m attaching some pictures of the toys. The jewel is, of course, the original VLIX figure. (one of the Vlix pictures is with the Mar´s discovery NASA made today in the background, so you believe me when I say I got the toy in my possession. Crappy pic, but it serves it´s purpose. I can take more pictures if anyone wants proof). He´s loose and I MAYBE still have his gun, but that´s not for sure. I have to look into my old stuff, but don´t count on it. Got a lot of G.I. Joe guns to send with him, if anyone buys it :D

The other ones are just as old, but not as rare... Maybe the R2D2? Still, wanna sell those too. Thall-Joben, Kez-Iban and Chewbacca. All original, bought in Brazil, as I said.

If you´re wondering why I wanna sell them, it´s easy. My dad bought all of this when I was younger, but I was never that huge Star Wars fan, so... I´m just a lucky guy who still have his childhood toys, including Thundercats, Rambo and other stuff, but I´m here for the Star Wars ones.

So, that´s it. Anyone interested? Can send larger and new pics via e-mail.

Welcome to the forum! Some great items you have there. As you obviously know a couple are worth serious money, so please don't be offended if you get asked lots of questions as unfortunately it is quite common for dishonest people to try and sell expensive toys they either don't have or don't send once payment has been received. But best of luck with your sales, I'm sure you'll have some interest here!

Slow down guys.

No kidding.

I don't want to outright say anything about the new member, but saw he also posted this on RS last night. I'm not commenting there, but will here.

Red flags abound.

First of all, there's the claim of being born in 1984, and having these since childhood. Even if he didn't get the Vlix until 1988, he would have been 4 years old. Chewbacca, last on shelves in 1985, would make him 1 when it came out. He has Thundercats, Rambo, and other action figures released between 1985-87. Amazing that he had all these collectible lines at 4 years of age or younger. Even more amazing they're all in pretty great shape being the play toys of a pre-schooler.

He has just found out he has a valuable figure, and has managed to join here, RS, and who knows where else. He also knows info about the gun, that's it's "one of the top 3 rarest figures out there", not to mention his name. All stuff that's pretty uncommon knowledge for a supposed non-collector who says he has no interest in Star Wars. Hell, for a guy who wants to sell and get out, he even gave himself a Vlix avatar on RS.

Then there are bigger red flags. When questioned about provenance/feedback, he has "just created his first ebay account", has never sold online, and knows no other collectors. In other words, no way to check his history AT ALL. When someone asked him to use a third party to help assure people, he was quick to say he doesn't want to involve anyone else, and then specifically stated "I´m just looking to sell this Vlix and some other figures, and that´s it." Followed by "Get the money, send the toy, and I´m done." I don't know about you guys, but if I don't know what I have and it's worth possibly thousands, I'd want to get top dollar by reassuring people with more than promises of "I'm not a scammer" and offering to take video of it. I'd jump at the opportunity to have someone trusted come in and broker it.

And what about paying? If he's never sold online before, does he even have paypal? If the answer is yes, obviously there will be no history on it. I strongly advise against anyone considering money orders, bank drafts, etc. Just look at what happened with Adolfo in Mexico - and that was a well known and respected collector!

He's also been told by Mike Mensinger to put up a price on it and the other items he's selling. He has yet to do so, and several people here and at RS are posting about sending PM's. He's turning it into an auction situation this way, with no way to even tell if more than one person is "the lucky buyer".

I know people are excited about a Vlix being offered for sale - especially since he's giving out hope there's a weapon to be found as well. I would just be extremely cautious here. Personally, without some kind of feedback, I wouldn't even consider this sale without the assistance of someone who can broker it for him.

Again, these are not direct accusations the guy is a scammer. I am just pointing out things that look questionable from my perspective, and asking everyone to temper their excitement and use their heads in any deal made.

Ian_c. Very good post mate. I wondered about his age when these figures were released as well, first post and overseas, no thanks. And that was before you offered up the other info, again might be legit but I doubt it.

He doesn't need PayPal Ian. He uses Western union money transfer.

Is that what he actually said? I missed that (assuming you're not being sarcastic ;) ).

If that's the case, this should be a full blown beware thread.....

Ian

Nah. I'm just being sarcastic. You will find a lot of that here.

Nope. He was told to post a price for his figures on RS, and Vlix is now priced at $4000. Nothing on any of the other figures yet.

Never has such a fugly figure commanded so high a price! For $4k you could buy the complete vintage figure line in C9 condition and walk away with change in your pocket.

Im sorry but to me Vlix is about as 'Star Wars' as a My Little Pony (now that I've said that THE FORCE AWAKENS is gonna feature a Vlix looking dude in the background for sure :D ).
