When I was a kid, space Lego was my other main love (SW being the first) - those sets look great and I recognise a couple!

Are they all sealed or do you build them? Are you going for a complete run? Are there any which are super tough to track down?

sorry for the 100 questions - its really cool to see another line of collecting!

It must be a bugger collecting unsealed Lego, checking all the pieces are there in each box!

Cheers guys.

I purposefully never buy sealed Lego. Partly because it's hard to find and can be very expensive, mostly because I want to build it!! :D

It is a pain ensuring all the bits are there, but you do that by building and hope the person selling was honest. Out of all the Lego I have bought only 1 had a piece missing that was not reported by the seller. But when I mentioned it, he looked and found it and sent no problem!

I am going for a complete boxed set. The classic space Lego has a total of 83 potential sets, according to one of the Lego websites, and I've followed that list. However further research has shown that 1 of those pieces is not thought to have been produced and another 4 appear to be a Canadian offer only. Ignoring those means that there is 78, out of which I think I have 64. Need to double check.

This doesn't included special joint offers where several sets were sold together. It is just 2 or 3 boxes stuck together so no real interest there.

There are however two special offers (one from Persil and another who's origins I still can't confirm...maybe German) both of which are mega hard to find boxed and very expensive. I missed out on one on eBay but have managed to secure the harder of the two so hopefully that will arrive soon!

There are a few other pieces that could be US only or very limited addition, which are quite small but can go for £150. I have a few of those, but still looking for a couple of the others.

It is. I dipped my toe into Lego Space recently. I was forced to make the model up to be on the safe side.

I love the space Lego, as someone else said a few posts up lego was second to star wars when I was a kid. Unlike most of my childhood Star Wars collection my mum never gave my lego away so still have it all, not sure which one's of space I have but I know I have the knights set with the yellow castle. Might have to have a session of building soon.

Some beautiful sets there which are really tough to get. You've certainly hit a rich seam.

That Lego Space is really cool, we definitely had a few of them back in the day. I'm amazed there are so many, I really didn't think there was such a big range.

Its not the end of the world if a brick is missing, there are loads of sites that you can pick up what you need for next to nothing.

There are loads of Space lego sets.

I'm just going for the 'classic' as that's all I had as a kid.

But after that there's the Futuron space (that's where the infamous Lego monorail comes from...had to have one even though it's not 'classic')

There's also Blacktron, Alien conquest, Unitron, (Which has a much darker/harsher version of the monorail...definitely worth checking that out!) Ice Planet, Life on Mars and several others.

Definitely a lot available in the space line!
