Yeah he does nearer the end, he gets shot in the eye and arm in the car chase and removes the eye and fixes his finger himself, i suppose you could paint more battle damage on him for the end scene in the truck.

A recent buy, this loose Hoth Scout Trooper, with hand blaster. This guy is found in the battle pack, two white speeder bikes and two troopers with accessory weapons.

Got this Vintage Collection Dart Maul figure on a wrecked card to open for loose.

Pluses are it looks great on card, the figure is very well articulated, the head / facial detail is very good, best of the 3 3/4 scale figures to date, the hips are swivel and hinged so you can simulate some great stances as in the pictures, the accessories are well made and detailed, the saber splits in half also.

Negatives are that the cloak and hood are awful, the cloak is totally inaccurate and looks like a piece of tatty cloth with frayed edges, it's too long in the leg and transparent, the left glove seems to have a habit of coming away from the forearm and the saber hilt, although you can fix it to the belt, you can't get it to properly hang downwards, the top of the saber catches on the moulded clothing detail so it tends to stick out 45 degrees in front or behind the figure.

Conclusion is that it's a great figure, but get the EP1 Sith accessory set and put it's cloak on this figure for a more authentic look.

Thanks Ewok 13, must admit to being fond of the SOTE line too, managed to get a Slave 1 boxed a few months back, chuffed me no end as did the Outrider.

The carded collection of the SOTE 3 3/4 figures is complete but I need a Chewy Snoova for the loose collection. The loose Leia Bounty hunter was from a SOTE card too, but that's basically the same figure as the POTF2 version anyway.

So pleased this showed up, as the seller answered no comm's, didn't email me to say it was being shipped and even left my name off the address label! Came wrapped in drown paper, no bubble wrap and the seller even taped the inner part of the paper to the box. I always cut the paper off anything that come wrapped in such a way, if I didn't the internal tape would have wrecked the box as it was ripped off. Still, nice box, instructions, inserts and the ship is great for a used item.

Just arrived by courier, these two will be for loose display when I get chance to hang them up in the cellar, the boxes are a wee bit worn, but the ships are mint complete, missiles and figure accessories, although the figures are missing, they where pretty standard figures that I have in the loose collection.

Qui-Gon arrived yesterday and thank fett I was opening it because the seller sent it in the old Jiffy..

Anyway, I love this figure, best of Qui-Gon yet. The facial and head sculpt is quite good, the articulation is better on this than past figures and enables some great poses. The soft goods cloak is good but a little rigid and could have been a bit more generous around the shoulder area. The saber is nicely detailed but is a little chunky in scale, more like the '99 EP1 version. But gripes aside, I really like this one, great to have it in the focus.

Been after these for a while after seeing an article on them in the Jedi Temple Archives. Basically these are bootleg figures that arrived around the time of AOTC, and there was 10 in a pack, 5 standing and 5 shooting. The quality isn't all that bad for bootlegs, detail is better than OK but not 100% spot on. The standing balance on the shooting trooper is great but the marching trooper falls over as soon as you let him go.

Two cheap VC figures on the new buys.

Queen Amidala from EP1.
A good looking figure here, but that's about it. The fall down is the lack of articulation and lack of soft goods parts on the gown, an articulated figure with soft goods cloak would have been awesome and worthy of the VC collection. The ends of the sleeves look great when the arms are held downwards, but due to the sold nature of the clothings, on raising the arms, the cloth sleeves just stay rock hard in the same position and look like flippers. The head is articulated, shoulders and elbows and the waist swivels. Probably in a vain effort to pack in as much articulation as possible, the wrists area's are ball joined, allowing very limited up and down movement, but that's about it. Like I said, a good looking figure but it's no better than an Episode 1 or Power of the Jedi era figure.

Obi-Wan Kenobi padawan.
Another Obi-Wan figure to hit the market isn't bad but it has some problems. Nicely sculpted internal clothing and boots, saber and hand held communicator and features a soft goods cloak and detail on the figure. On the negative side, a slight sculpt problem with the facial detail sees his nose being to big, the legs don't seem to look right, being a little too thin and not exactly level forcing the of a figure stand because it just won't stand up properly. The cloak could use some work with the cowl's stitching being visible on the outside of the cloak. The cowl could use some stitch work to allow it to form some shape over the head as it seem to want to stick up in the air. The articulation as a whole is quite with head, shoulders, elbow, wrists, waist, hips, knees and ankles and some good poses can be achieved using a stand, but I really would have liked to see a feature as found on Maul, the hinged hips that allows the splits.

OK a very rare post in the modern aquisitions area. Been off work for a little bit but came into the office today to find the two latest Star Tours Disney Parody waves waiting on my desk, so here we are then:

Series 5
This is a great run with some fantastic additions. two first appearances and for once no Mickey Mouse
Stitch as Grievous is lovely
Donald as Commander Cody is a great figure, albeit very similar to the shadow trooper and storm trooper we have seen before
Huey, Dewey and Louis as Jawas is truly great and with the broken droid parts as extras this is a cracking little set and the first time we have seen these little guys in the run
Goofy as Cad Bane is perfect, the red eyes are brilliant
and the stand out figure is Daisy Duck as Aurra Sing, great figure and a first appearance for the lady duck.

Series 6
This has one first appearance in the run (and it is a cracker) but overall with three re-tooled versions of previously seen figures this line is a little below the standard set and was clearly an Episode I promo thing.
Minnie Mouse as Amidala, A nice figure but almost similar to the series 2 figure, really only the new head piece is different
Donald as Darth Maul, this is a really nice figure but again it is an update of the series 2 figure, we do get a re sculpted face and a nice cloth cape with this one though
Stitch as Yoda, the figure is almost identical to the series 2 figure but the addition of his Jedi council seat and a cane make the difference this time out
Mickey as Anakin, while there was an Anakin Mickey in serise 2 it was one based on his Episode 2 appearance, this one is based on his 10 year old appearance in Episode I so is a new figure, it is nice enough and the accessories are good but not a stand out addition really
Pluto as R2-D2, this is the real gem in the set, a first appearance for Pluto and for R2 in the run and it is great, totally makes up for the re-tooled figures by having this one in the set.

For me these are must buys every year (having all the figures ever made in this line, including the Pirates of the Caribbean and Indian Jones ones...) and if you love some humor in your modern figures these can't be beaten and are a great example of what is good about modern SW figure production. Enjoy

One more thing. I forgot to mention that for the first time in serise 6 there is a chase figure, Goofy as TC-14, a bit of him is in each of the 5 other figures. nice enough looking but please pay close attention to the tray he is carrying - can anyone say 'dildo' :)
