Where to start? - Clone Wars

I remember going to the cinema to see the feature and being pretty much the only person in there

I remember going with Mumbo, the place was empty. We both rolled our eyes when the voice over came in explaining current events. I wasn't impressed, Mumbo was spitting feathers. I think the TV series really improved on the movie in the long run.

Barry - that version of the Clone Wars is not the Clone Wars you're thinking. Lucasfilm has virtually distanced itself from the Tartovsky (sp?) version. There was two seasons of this.
Then you had Filoni's TCW which started with the movie, 5 full season and the Lost missions (season 6) on netflix

What in the wide wide world of sports is that ****!!! Baz

That's not the Clone Wars me and my little one watch. I've grown to like them and need to invest in more myself as I've only the film and 1st season.

Here's the box set I would like.

A tear came to my eye the 1st time my 4 year asked could we go and watch Star Wars together.
Strong in the forces is she. Force lightning at such a young age.

I dunno
Did say I knew **** all (in general that is). That box set off Ebay is the one I bought last week. Just need to get round to watching some. Probably today.

Just starting watching today. Saw the first four episodes of season one.

Wow wow wow!!! ****ing superb :D First episode was gripping and I have to admit feeling a little emotional at seeing Yoda wielding his kick ass Jedi power and generally being so damned cool. The next three episodes were equally as impressive. I'm actually craving more!

Anyone tempted by a Clone Wars box set should definitely make the purchase. If you half liked the Clone Wars movie then you will get right into these. So far what i've seen is way better than all prequels IMO. It's essentially the same thing, just not irritating. Not sure they managed to do that but the series works for me.

I've not watched these and something I've been considering the last couple of months.

Couple of questions. Is it better if I watch the film before I watch the series? Secondly, how long roughly does an episode last?

an episode is about 22 minutes.

I´d watch the movie first, as it is a long 90 mins episode itself, and it introduces Ahsoka Tano.
But, the show doesn´t follow a chronological order, specially at the beginning.

I don't remember much from the film so not sure its important to watch first. The series is still going well for me. Missed one yesterday. Was so tired just fell asleep. Some are more exciting than others but all episodes have been great.

Every now and then a character you recognise crops up. Seeing IG88 was a treat. Stupid prequel characters are less annoying than in the films, even jar jar! He seems to be treated like the fool he is in CW which kind of makes it more bearable

Finished season one today. Mostly great episodes with only a few that I lost interest in ...mainly those featuring Jar Jar Binks as it happens. Previously I did say that he's not as annoying in CW. Hmm, not strictly true. There are a few WTF moments :|

The last episode in the season was absolutely brilliant! Can't wait to move on to season 2 this weekend. Funnily our 8 year old has really taken to it. We might have a break for a few days after which he can tell me where we got up to. He knows all the characters and what's going on.

So. Just can't get enough. Favourite things have to be the occasional pop up by some character/race who you recognise from the OT. Obviously there's a much greater expansion on the existence of Clones and their lives. These guys are awesome. Can I just ask what maybe a daft question? ...are Stormtroopers clones? I really do not know, so please don't shoot me or ban me from the group

Not all stormtroopers are clones. When the clones die off they are replaced with human volunteers.

Which explains their poor shooting skill and general ability to be beaten by Ewoks.

But Clones make battle droids look like dog turd. The Separatists were clearly more interested in quantity than quality. Absolutely ****ing useless.

This is true. They taint the whole bloody thing. Of all the possible potential for really cool side kicks, even if a comedic element was needed, they settled for this stupid gangly, flappy headed buffoon

Season two starts well with Holocron Heist and the homage to 'The Longest Day' in Landing Point Rain is fun.
