i thought sears may have had over spill of baggies made and they filtered into europe somehow

It's still surprising how many are out there considering it was never on a card and only available from one store as part of a play set.

I think that says more about the very high population numbers of Star Wars figures in general. Yes, you do see several Blue Snags available to buy individually at any given time on Ebay but you rarely ever see them in job lots - and job lot auctions of SW figures with 30, 40, sometimes 50 plus figures always seem to reveal the massive population numbers of figures like Stormtrooper, Weequay, Chirpa, etc.

So it's all relative, but certainly Blue Snaggletooth itself is far from the rarest loose find when compared against certain foreign variants. I think Blue Snags is a really cool figure but it's a shame that, as with the vinyl cape jawa, there are so many 'suspect' examples out there with either repaint or custom made from red snag.

And that's why some of us think it's mad that people pay so much for loose figures like Snag and VCJ etc. There were 3 quarters of a BILLION of these things made over nearly 10 years! There are literally thousands of even the 'rarest' loose figures out there.

A friend collecting friend of mine picked up a loose Blue Snaggletooth from a bought collection in late 1994/1995.

This is pre-internet, but their were a couple of collectors shops and model mart etc.

Remember thinking this was unique but have no provence from how that got into some kids uk toy collection.

I remember seeing loose ones in my local collector shop in the mid 90s too, so they definitely did find their way over here in reasonable numbers somehow.
