Hi

If anyone is selling a PS3 i might be interested. Obviously it needs to be in good nick 8) Mine has just died

PM me if you have one going

How did yours die mate?

Mumbos died a few times and fixing it was not to difficult (until the fifth time when it died completely  )...

YLOD? Was it a larger 60gb style?

As Jr said he fixed mine a few times until eventually nothing. I wouldn't say it was simple myself, I recall after each deconstruction and subsequent reconstruction there would always be some left over parts

Got a new slim model but only use it for dvd's now

Funny enough the last few time our PS3 was used it was for DVD's

With the Wii U in action the PS doesn't get a look in...

Talking of spare parts I think I still have your PS3 hard-drive somewhere Mumbo.

X-Pack you could probably sell your PS3 for spare parts on the bay to help fund the new one, but if you want to do a data transfer you have got to get it up and running again...

get an xbox :)

there will surely be a bit of software for exploring the ps3 hard drive too to get the information off?

even dvd's and blue ray will be obsolete soon, all smart tv's have capability to play media from a disk and so do may blu ray players now, it will all go diskless, same with games, most will be bought online and downloaded.

Good call, but only if the PS3 boots up...

As for digital content in the future, there is no avoiding it. Diskless, cardless, as you say it will all be downloads. I have downloaded a couple of games (cheaper ones) but still prefer a hard copy for top end games and always will. You have got to feel for the high street retailers its getting harder and harder for them.

ah no, i meant take the hard drive out of the ps3, attach it to a pc and browse the contents, thats how i backed up my box saves and downloaded games when it went tits up.

Yes it was YLOD

I was playing Black Ops and chatting to a mate and it just switched off. Tried to switch it back on and it briefly attempts to fire up but then the yellow light comes on before turning red and stays flashing. Will not fir up after numerous attempts. I can't even get the disk out :?

I will get another because of all the games i have for PS3, and i enjoy Black Ops. I know my stored data will be lost but will i lose all the downloads/add-ons for Black Ops 2 and MW3? As far as i remember from when my first PS3 broke in 1998 all your accomplishments for COD type games are stored online. Is that right?

What a complete bastard!

Found One!

There's a company in Lancashire that do factory recon/return units with 6 months warranty. They are exchanging my 40gb **** heap for a nice 160gig slim 8) £100

Can't complain really. Can't believe how expensive new ones still are  And i would like someone to tell me what is the point of a 12gig PS3? I might start a new thread on the subject

I tried that but only some of the things would transfer over. I downloaded Canis Canem Edit and that wouldn't transfer. I'll have lost my save for that  That's why i wanted to 160gig one, because i was running out of memory to easily on the 40gb.

I have absolutely no idea. I need space for about 2 games worth of 'game saves'... maybe 3
What else could i possibly need??

Only thing with 12GB is that some of the downloads are massive. If you play a game like Batman then they require around 2GB of storage. Add that to a few other save games, maybe a download or two (Canis Canem Edit was 4GB  ), and you are screwed with only 12GB of storage.
