Hi Guys,
I'm sure this question has been asked a dozen times before but the search parameters are too broad so can't seem to find any answers....

Other than sending him to UKG, are there any other ways of getting my Vinyl Cape Jawa authenticated?

I've had him about 10 years and am 99.99% convinced he's genuine - I've just always been afraid of having him checked and finding out I've wasted my money! But I think its time now to bite the bullet and get him verified for better of for worse...

As a second option, if i sent him to UKG and then removed him from the casing afterwards, I know the grade is no longer valid but would the certificate still be valid?

Looking forward to you advice!
Thanks
Adam

If you're going to CE3 take him with you and get one of the guys from here t confirm it, you won't get a certificate but you'll get the answer :)

not sure i fancy carrying him around london/leaving him in a hotel room for 4 days.
Will think about it though...
I've done all the standard tests myself anyway which is why i'm sure he's genuine...

I'd really like a coa just to put my mind at ease and for insurance purposes really... just not really fussed about him being encased in plastic because none of my other figures are!

If your not sure try and put a few pictures up on the forum. Alot of guys on here will be fit to help you that's what I end up doing most of the time when need help :)

I've checked him according to this:

and i'm pleased to say he meets all the criteria :D

So now I'm just looking for a way to certify it really...

You seemed worried about the cash but have had it for 10 years
may i ask how much you paid for it?

Robert

At the time we paid around the £250 mark. 10-15 years is a bit a of a guess but it seems about right because I was still living at home and it was bought as a christmas present for me by a few family members to complete my loose figures collection.
It's not really the cash that's the issue. Its more the insurance and replacement cost should anything happen to it.
Just looking for way to prove its authenticity should disaster strike...

Which type blaster does it have?
Button or no button

They've been found with both but most folks prefer the 'no bump' blaster for a VCJ.

A couple of well lit, in focus close up shots and we'll almost certainly be able to tell you if it's right or not straight away. Also, make sure you get a pic of the COO on his leg.

The blaster is the one with the bump. But I'm not fussy about that. Here are a few pics. The flash has picked up the cross-hatching really well on one of them!

Yeah - he's fine. And I've had mine from childhood and he came with a bump blaster so no probs there either.

Give me a shout if you fancy selling him

Haha will do.
Very unlikey because then my collection would be incomplete.... but I'll keep you in mind should anything change! :)

Man, you are in for an eye opener when you get there. Just wait till you see boxes being unloaded at the room sales.

It would seem so... I can't wait!!! Although my collection is complete there are some I'd like to replace for better condition versions!
