vintage figure materials

since torso and limbs are made of different materials on figures... does anyone know what each type of plastic / rubber is used to make them?

yeah i got some silicone mold stuff here with the catalist and ive learned how to boil and pop too.

im gunna do customs soon once i got the correct materials for the casting.
i think the legs are PVC of about 60durometer... but id like more info before i go buy the wrong stuff. ive seen some liquid plastic that casts well and will survive a blow with a hammer so its nice and strong too.

im gunna make a mold from summat lame like an admiral akbar to begin with then i may mold ledy heads etc

thats cool, what your talking about is pro, but i did a quick bastarisd verison with some fimo baking clay, just get a figure press the clay around it , then bake the clay in the oven, wait for it to cool down and then cut it down the middle, once your ready fill the mould with more raw clay and then open the mould carefully ,then hey presto you've got a figure to bake in the oven, wait till that comes out and paint it !!,, can be cool to have a army of blue snaggletooth's :mrgreen:

well i just done my first mold!!! i just molded a hoth stormtrooper rifle...

well half... im waiting for it to cure then i gotta pour the second half on

im gunna do white ones )))) uzay here we come lol

here is the first half.... need to coat it in release agent and then pour more molding stuff over the other half with the gun back in to complete the mold.

i used paracetamol packaging to make the mold "locks" so when i hold the 2 halfs of mold together it will match up too
off to pour the second half...

it arrives tuesday. it cures white too im using a hoth stormtrooper weapon as i test, so will knock out a few in white
