Vintage Death Star Hangar ---- a Display for my Shuttle!

Just a little update:
I moved 4 month ago and the last piece my father and I were carrying into the first floor was this Death Star diorama. Now guess what happend??? (Of course....thats why we transported it seperatly....not one thing was handled like a egg, besides this one!!!) :?

Yep...on the last step my father stumbled and really hurt himself ....he is fine now again, so everything is great. But that diorama didn't survive very well. I couldnt watch it for month, so it simply stood with "face" to the walls. A few weeks ago I finally started to rebuild it, make it better, more robust, and finally chnaged the rest of the lightening to LED stripes.

Sadly I am now missing 1/10 of LEDs. I bought new stripes but they got lost in the mail (waited 4 weeks).....second try....lets hope for the best...time is already again over ultimo

It seems "someone" above doesn't like that hangar..... :lol:

You should do a step by step guide on how you create one of these. I for one would love to have a crack at it. I have some miniature painting skills but the modelling isn't something i've had a bash at.

Here is the Death Star on the operating table:

Opened backside. Everything was dismantled to remove the old lightening.

New lightening (LED stripes) were roughly brought in. I additionally glued in a "frosted glass" effect to the blue "windows" (compare to above).

Nearly finished....first light-test!!

Okay and now?? "Scruffy" already moped the whole thing.....nice...looks like new! :lol:

Repairs 2013:
- Old lightening was renewed. Better LED stripes (instead of LED lightbulbs-chains) were build in. I have now 10 times the power I had before!
- Tie Bomber hanging was destroyed and was reglued and repaired
- Tie Fighter tower was destroyed and was reglued
- Lots of "windows" fell out. A few panels broke off. All was reglued and fixed
- The hangar lightening surrounding the hangar door was totally dismantled and is now better then it ever was!!
- The front door was polished to get rid of scratches!!

I am very happy...after years I finally have my LED chains in t and it is repaired and doesnt look damaged anymore!!!

So now....time to get the troops in!!!

Honestly, I have never seen anything quite so impressive as your work. It's phenomenal. If you had been doing this 40 years ago I think you may have had a phone call from a chap named Lucas. Perhaps you've heard of him.....
