Has anyone bid on the auction sites before?...if so I have a few questions!

1, Can you get good deals, or generally does it go higher than anticipated?
2,How do you bid online ?
3, if you win something will they send or do you have to pick up?
4, How do you decide what you want when you want everything! (this one is a joke!)

Cheers guys
Tom

Sometimes yes but everyone knows about Vectis now so there is a lot more interest worldwide than say even a year ago.

2,How do you bid online ?
Register a Credit Card, enter your max bid and they do the proxy bidding like ebay for you.

They ship for a fee or you can collect.

Quickly find a new hobby and never turn your PC on again.

Cheers guys

Tbh mate by the time you add buyers fees you might as well buy off ebay, auction houses win both ways off the seller and the buyer

Pretty standard: 20% commission and 20% VAT on the commission = 24%.

The best you're going to do as buyers commission nowadays is 15% (18% with the VAT) and that's pretty unusual, to be honest.

It is possible to get bargains, I got a trilogo Luke Bespin for a very good price earlier this year. But that is the only lot I've won, and I've bid on dozens. Prices generally go over market value because of the fees, so as with eBay the best thing to do is decide your maximum bid and stick to it, don't get caught up on the bidding hysteria.

Ebay has its own issues that don't need another thread about :D

Main plus about Vectis is that they have plenty of items you just don't see on Ebay, or are so infrequent that they're hard to win. At least with Vectis the stuff is legit, its always well packaged and can be seen beforehand. You can't rely on any of those things most of the time on Ebay, so yes, you probably pay more, but there's likely to be less risk. All depends what you're buying and how much it costs I suppose.
