Using cling-film for securing MOC's.

I've used cling wrap for sending (and requesting) figures in the post many times and its brilliant. I don't quite put as much cling wrap around the bubble as James above, in fact I build a little cardboard box (with bubble wrap on the inside) for especially fragile bubbles, then wrap it in cling wrap. Most don't need the cardboard reinforcement as the cling wrap gives that little bit more strength to the bubble for when the figure bumps around when its being transported - especially the top and bottom. But for fragile bubbles, its worth the time to make that little cardboard box to cover it.

I like the idea of wrapping the cling wrap around the bubble wrap though James. I'll use that next time, then put the cardboard box over the top.

I'd never use it for long term storage though. That's what Star Cases are for!

Speaking of Star Cases, I had a very near accident with my POTF Anakin where I had put it on the deck while I was re-arranging the collection. My son (who was 5 at the time) came into the room and stepped right on it! Thank goodness for that Star Case - not one ounce of damage to Anakin. Whew!

Cheers,
Pat

Woah!.I bet the horror of seeing that must have been a heart stopping moment. The relief when all was ok would have been immense.Another plus for a star case.Anybody else have yellowing star cases?

Basically jez has nailed it. When I've seen it it hasn't caused major damage but has left a mark on the card almost like it takes just a very thin layer of the shiney litho off. The creases of cling film were visible.

Mine is not all cling wrap- it's bubble wrap then cling wrap, so similar to how you do it, minus the little cardboard box.

Never thought to use clingfilm because of the stickiness :!: That is one of the great things about using cellophane to wrap boxes, non-stick :)

When I send an MOC, I do the AussieJames technique shown in the picture earlier. No need to wrap it around the card -- just there to help prevent the figure bursting through the bubble in transit. Send it in a star case with sensible packaging in a box and you've done your best.

ive only ever used it around the bubble to aid any impact from a figure with freedom in the bubble, never used it around the card, not had any issues but ill make extra sure its not overlapping onto the cardback just in case.

I've always thought it was a very clever way to send MOCs. Had a fair few over from Iain and never had any issues either with damage or the clingfilm itself.

Just got a MOC from Iain/Neil. Wonderfully packed, including clingfilm wrapped. No worries.

Until today outside of Iain I have never received any moc's packed using cling wrap
Got this from a random ebay seller. Cling wrap around the bubble, over the top and around card that had another piece of cardboard behind it then slid inside a plastic sleeve. All of this wrapped in more bubble wrap then in a box filled with foam beans
It made its way from the US no problem
