Ultimate Collection

Hell of a sale. 8)
I thought it looked like a good deal at first. Maybe it is but here's my take...
I counted about 125 or so MOCs. Mostly seem average at best, going by what he put at the front.
And about another 48 boxed items. So let's say 175 items. Just going per item it would be $113 per item.
I'm not up on my boxed stuff value but there'd need to be quite a lot of money in the boxed stuff to make the numbers work. The MOCs probably average about $60-70 each in value given that, altho a few big ticket items, it's mostly $30-$40 stuff. So the MOCs, at that value would make up about 8-9k of the 20. That leaves well over 10k in the boxed stuff. Personally i'm not quite seeing it. But again, i'm nt up on my boxed stuff values so maybe i'm wrong.

Would be a great buy for a vintage seller but i think you'd need to get it a lot cheaper. Can't imagine a collector buying it for collecting.

WOuld like to hear Iain's take on this. He has a keen eye for this sort of thing.

I think Pete is right here. Take away the big ticket items what you are left with is probably about market value. This is fine but if I'm buying 200 odd items, particularly a lot I don't want I'm going to need a discount. A big discount.

A dealer looking to buy this and sell it I recon will be looking to pay about 50% of its market value. He's going to have to break it up and sell it and I think that would take a long time. Sure, the rarer stuff will walk out the door but after that initial looting then the other bits, especially common stuff we see up for sale all the time will take a lot longer to move. I also imagine tying up 20 grand is going to seriously limit someone's ability to buy more stuff that they may be offered further down the line.

Also, wheres the fun in buying a ready made collection.
