Hi there,
Just thought I'd leave a little review regarding my first experience of UKGraders, which I have to say was a positive one. The only issue I had with the whole process was not actually knowing what to expect at each stage.
First things first, the site itself is very easy to use. I wanted to get a couple of mocs cleaned and graded, and it wasn't difficult at all to set up an account and do exactly that. I'm not going to spend anytime on the process of sending the items, as I found this to be pretty much self explanatory. The only points I will mention, though, is that you have to state what you would like printed on the info plate; you also have to state the type of postage you would like the items returned by. All this was fine.
After filling in the details of what I wanted I sent the items off and they arrived at UKGraders the next day. This was indicated under my UKGraders account. The turnaround is anything up to 20 working days, but can be quicker or longer, depending on their current workload. There is an option to have a five day turnaround but I was in no hurry. The status on my items went to "preparation in progress" and I began to wait. Unfortunately, what with the new movie round the corner and it probably approaching Christmas, the turnaround took slightly longer than 20 days, but again that was OK with me.
As the days passed I began to get cold feet. I sent in a couple of questions to Steve from UKGraders, and he was very quick and very professional in his replies. For example I was concerned about whether to get the items actually graded or just to get them placed in slide bottom cases if they weren't up to scratch. I didn't want my money back under such circumstances, just wanted to do what was best for the items. Steve was fine with this.
The days rolled on and after the 23rd working day came and went I finally contacted them to ask how things were going. They were actually in the process of grading the items, so I was happy with this.
All through the process the status of my items remained at 'preparation in progress'. I didn't know whether this would become more fine grained, but it remained like this up until the status was changed to "shipped".
The only issue I had was that on asking them the final grades, I didn't get a reply. After talking to them about not grading them if they were in poor shape I began to fear the worst. I actually thought for a second that they might have forgotten the conversation and graded them anyway despite being in poor condition - UKG40s here we come. I needn't have worried. I had emailed them this question late on Friday afternoon and by then - quite rightly so - they were probably gone for the weekend.
The items arrived the next working day - Monday, and I was both very relieved and pleased with the results. Packaging was good, and they even sent back the star cases that I sent the initial figures in. The grades, although I had hoped for them, still pleasantly surprised me.
All in all a very positive experience.
A big thanks to the guys at UKGraders
