Has anyone heard of the UKAF? I can't find any info online but they seem to employ a different grading system on a couple of figures I've seen?

It is rather odd - they are in a afa style case but I can clearly see a UKAF logo. Perhaps there were something that preceded the AFA?

The only grading companies I have heard of outside of UKG and AFA are the long dead Plastic dreams (US) and a grading company started in the UK by a guy called Adrian I think, pretty sure his flopped but Plastic Dreams did grade some MOC figures etc.

Can't for the life of me think what Adrians company was called but he is still badgering about on ebay, he was grading figures in ugly cases with a comical backdrop (like sand/tatooine backgrounds for characters like the Tusken Raider lol)

i do recall another grading company at around the same time as afa but they only graded a few figures from what i saw, plastic dreams sounds familiar but not heard of a UK one
in fact i think they put a huge certificate of grading inside the case which covered a huge chunk

edit: just found this thread here which shows plastic dreams large dumb cert packaged in case http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5619

That wouldn't happen to be Adrian cordrey would it Joe?

Hmm perhaps, for some reason I am thinking the word "Alien" came into it? Maybe his ebay name or something.

adrian-alien?

Sure there was more to it all than a grading company but it's been a few years :? can't quite remember now.

Yep Adrian alien. I've heard of him. He was based down the road from me. I'm not sure if it is one of Adrian cordreys accounts or not though. I used to deal with Adrian cordrey quite a bit so next time I see him ill ask him about the account and about ukaf.

Here is a picture of one of the UKAF graded items (I know it's not vintage but I am fond of the neoclassic red card variations).

They had a website: ukaf.co.uk but it's gone and there is literally now nothing on the web about them.

You can see the last update to their website in 2005 here:-

A ringing endorsement from Gary Smith and they're history!

Interesting, doesn't look like they were around for long.

Perhaps the sithsmith can shed further light on the subject?

I think UKAF have taken out a superinjunction to prevent Gary from speaking on the matter.
