I trust everyone is enjoying this fantastic weather, it's about time we had a decent summer here in Blighty. In fact, all this heat and the blue skies takes me right back to the mid-70s, when it seemed we had definite seasons back then :?

Anyhow, despite the glorious sunshine and ever rising temperatures, I shall be retiring indoors at 5:05pm to watch Star Wars ANH on ITV2. Yes, I have it on DVD, and I've seen it countless times. But for me, there's something about seeing it on the telly... obviously a kickback to my childhood, as I longed to see it on the small screen... but had to wait an agonising 7 years before my wish came true

If only it was the original theatrical version that was about to be shown. Ah, well...

Yep ill be on the couch as well. The Mrs and kids are off to her parents for a BBQ so will have the house to myself to kick back and watch it!!!

I will be watching also, maybe in the spare room if Murray goes to 5 sets though

I'm sat in the garden at the moment avoiding the tennis

As you say enjoying the 77 sunshine, radio playing, Abba, manhattan transfer, David soul, Leo sayer mmmmmm, it wasnt all roses then

ah yea, got a beer, chilling on the sofa, watching Star Wars, what could be better!! (apart from my Mrs dressing up as slave princess Leia)

My rose-tinted glasses have selective vision, Mike: David Soul's 'Silver Lady' and the like deserve to be left in the past

Agreed. And Abba is deffo one for the ladies  Don't mind a bit of the Soulmeister though. On my stag we went in my favourite 'old man's' pub for a few bevvies. Tunes got going on the jukebox. 'Don't give up on us baby' might have been one of 'em :?

ANH on TV today? Missed that one. Episode III has been on a five times over the last week

Tbf ....Abba are fine by me, all the bands mentioned in my earlier post were no ones in 77 including MR souls don't give up on us baby
Chanson damour ...remember that :?:

Edit ....number ones...not no ones

Number ones... no-ones... like it, Mike

And thanks for putting "Rat ta tat ta tat" in my head for the rest of the evening

What a great viewing... no matter how many times I've seen it, I still get goosebumps from that initial trumpet 'parp'. Magical stuff :D

Damn! I was thinking 'what's that song go like? ..hmm'

rat-tata-ta-tat is in MY bloody head as well now

Got to agree...never tire of watching ANH, ESB, ROTJ

You always notice new things, and mutter the iconic lines before the characters do....that's no moon, I felt a great disturbance, now blow this thing.....and on and on

Awesome stuff :D love it :D

Chanson damour.................always reminds me of 'Are you being served' when they sang it on a TV show (I know sad)

Not sure if any of you guys have been watching the 70s Top of the Pops repeats, but Man Tran, David Soul and others have been seen in abundance over the past few months. Up to July 1978 now, and alongside the Boomtown Rats (who I loved as a kid) we have..... the bloody Smurf Song by Father Abraham!

I keep wondering why they are playing TOTP 1978 so much. Is it an anniversary or something? I'll be they keep away from the Jimmy Saville ones

Rob, thanks for replacing "Rat a tat a tat" with "La la la-la la la, la la laaaa" for the rest of the evening.

Barry, there's definitely a game here... that's for certain  And I doubt we'll ever hear a "Now then, now then" from the BBC archives ever again, thankfully
