The modern line

I collected all the McQuarrie concept figures as well as the boba fett holiday special about 3 years ago which kicked off my interest in vintage again.
I think it's a great line and im a big fan of the preproduction artwork.

I got a big order in from the states and the thrill of opening a package with 6 or 7 mocs in is something I'll never get with vintage.

Nothing else has piqued my interest though although the gentle giants are pretty cool

I myself have a few modern figures, aswell as a set of Episode 1 figures and bendems. Bendems got me back into the game, but i never liked the POTF2 range. TPM holds a place in my heart, and i genuinely think they are the last figures we saw which were similar to packaging of the original line, minus the Commtech of course 8) The others are ones my wife and kids have bought me, one being a Stormtrooper with coin (forget which card it is) that my wife bought to me in hospital when i had a stroke in 2007 whilst she was pregnant with out boy. That sits in an acrylic case :D

Hope Grant doesnt mind this, but id also like to know something else about the modern line. Why the hell are people paying £20 upwards for a simple, recently released figure-its absolute madness the prices some go for. You could buy some genuine vintage for the price. I understand some are harder to come by-but triple the original price???

Never fully got into the modern line.

I bought a few pieces that I thought I'd never find/afford from the vintage line, Like a tie fighter/A wing.

Bought a few other pieces like the Bantha, dewback, endor bunker and T16 Skyhopper that I thought were cool

but ultimately it never really had much appeal and not long after I got them, I started finding pieces I thought I'd never have for prices I could afford so stopped looking at the modern.

I bought quite a bit back in the day and then slowly got rid of it as my vintage collection grew. One of the few things I kept was my set of POTF2 red cards.

...I have made a promise to the missus that I will not buy any TFA merch.

This is the only other modern line I have gone for recently. Love the McQuarrie figures as I love his original artwork. That to me IS star wars! 8)

I once collected modern line, but then I changed focus and began to collect vintage variants, then there was no money left for modern line

I still have my modern items. Maybe I will add more to it in the future but vintage first :D

Never got into the modern line properly, just bought some I thought looked cool, POTF2; dark luke, luke in erg outfit and the sote erg.
Tpm didn't kick off my collecting either, just bought maul with speeder and luke with speeder.
My love has always been vintage, although I started collecting during the tpm hype

I bought a little bit in the early years. Got rid though and now just have a set of the first wave of POTF2 red cards (9 I think), a Mace Windu sneak peview, Ben hologram in UK box, Han Stormtrooper mailaway, Luke Stormtrooper green card and Leia slave figure. These are just a few bits that i don't see as being worth selling but also retain a little bit of nostalgia from the early POTF2 days of the mid 90's.

i used to be a scattergun collector. I had all sorts, no plan to it. Now i'm a modern slave leia collector - carded, a loose Amidala collector in the 3&3/4 range.. both of these are getting rather complete so will look to the new stuff to continue that family line. I mostly collect the slave leia fig because it wasnt in the original lineup and of course because its Leia in her most deadly outfit (in more ways than one.. fnarr).

Some of the modern lines are brilliant and so much to choose from, you can make little focuses. I still want a Willrow Hood.. he would join my micro modern focus of 'random figures I really like', which has about 5 in it so far.
