I am nearing the completion of my loose run, well what i consider to be the loose collection.
As i kid i really only remembered the figures you would find on a 77back. So i have gone for that run, all be it made up of mostly beaters and incomplete figures, but hey, its only started in april.

I was working off a 92 back but apart from Han solo in carbonite and luke combat poncho i have never even seen the others.

So for me i have no real interest for ever really owning them. But for the sake of completion i may eventually get a few.

My question is does everyone else think they are the mutts nutts or do some folk consider them to be just out of the vintage line,,just.
When you started collecting had you ever heard of them? did you want figures that had odd heads and no eyebrows :D
And did that change when you got further into collection, i.e. completionism.

i swear i am gonna write a thesis on this one day

I spoke to someone about that just the other day, how the last 17 kind of split a lot of collectors opinions. Some look awful and i've never liked tham and am in no hurry to get them and some i think look great. The scale seems off with some of them and like you say, Luke and Han are really fat and Han has no eye-brows. When you compare that Han to the Bespin and Endor Ham, which i think are near perfect sculpts, it seems very lazy to make them the way they did for the last 17.
On top of that, they only did 17 as a last hurrah and chose to make Barada...??! Also, the Ewoks are a little pointless and again, lazily conceived and surely produced just to make a few quid.
I don't remember the card-backs from when i was a kid and so i wont be collecting the POTF MOCs but i do remember some of the figures- Luke Stormie, Imperial Dig, Yak and Imperial Gunner. I don't remember Amanaman but i think he's an awesome looking figure and look forward to picking one up.

To be honest the whole line from the beginning has imperfect sculpts and dodgy character choices and some will please peolpe and others will annoy it's all just preference and what people remember from being a kid.

I love the potf figures, I love the logo on the packaging too. The sculpts are hit and miss, but the line as a whole is a success for me. The coins were a strange but great idea! For me Luke stormtrooper is one of my favourite figures. I love the carbonite block that came with Han, not that keen on the figure though.

I agree. The POTF line is a great Line. I will admit that it was an attempt to flog a dyng horse in terms of marketing but lets not forget some of the characters in this line.

1. Amanaman - One of (if not) the best sculpts of the entire vintage line IMO including best accessory.
2. Imperal Dignitary - Great figure and colours.
3. Luke Stormie - Almost iconic figure.
4. Imperial Gunner - Menacingly good figure.
5. R2-D2 Pop up Sabre - Again awesome.
6. Han's Carbonite Block is Quality even if he does have a fat neck. I dont hate the Han figure that much either. Hell if you look at the big head Han from 1977-78 then it hard a much better likeness of him. It is only the iconic smugglers outfit that makes us think it is a better likeness.

Chris. :D

Love them all! - http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5386

I think there great.

I can remember seeing them in the shops and my friend buying some but for some odd reason i didn't.

I love the colours, the sculps are more modern looking but not silly oversized muscle bound figures like the later ones.

My favourites are, in no order

Luke stormie...he's just so cool.
Amanaman..was never one of my faves until i owned a bagged one..now i love the sculpt.
Pop up R2..Cus he has a ****ing lightsaber
Yak Face...can't pinpoint why i just really like him.

Fair play everyone has their own likes and preferrences, but i actually preferred the innocence or simplicity of the Star wars to Jedi line.
Agreed the L17 may have some impressive sculpts and "cool" figures (luke stormie, han, yak) but i just got a feeling that they dont quite belong.
Just the feeling i get from them, i suppose i will look back on this thread in 2 years time a laugh.

im off to buy a yak for a fiver. :D

Well everyone else has a list....

1. Amanaman
2. R2-D2
3. EV 9D9
4. Yak

These ones i think are all great.. Non of the others do anything for me tho there are a couple of ok figs in there.

I can only remember owning Luke endor (about 10 of them!!!) I certainly can't remember them being for sale in woolworths. It might just be that I was getting more into my 'HE-MAN' thing when potf were released.
The only figure I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't see the point in is the Imperial dignitary. WHY that figure of all the hundreds of others they could of picked??? They could of made a Han stormtrooper Insted!

Garindan is the big nosed one from SW

Which character are you thinking of Ed? Can't remember one on Bespin with a big nose lol

Being honest even when i found out they were starwars and considered vintage,, i hardly remembered half of them in the movie??
what about the other cool figures that were never made,
like

Hot assed scout??

1. Imperial Gunner
2. Imperial Gunner
3. Imperial Gunner
4. Imperial Gunner
5. Imperial Gunner

Honorable mention: Imperial Gunner

I can't remember ever having any of the last 17 as a kid, but seeing them today I think they really show how each range of figures progressed in detail, etc.

The detail on EV-9D9 is fantastic 8)

I too need a few of the last 17 to complete my loose run, getting a white R2 pop-up is prooving dificult :x

I never had any of the last 17 as a kid, and when I started buying SW again aged about 15 I stumbled across some of them and had no idea if they were genuine or not. I've no real feelings either way about the figures but I do think the POTF cards look cool!

I agree that a few of them are a complete waste, Imperial Dignitary and WHY do we need FOUR more Ewoks!?
One more would have been too many, but FOUR!?
