Seriously,

when I see this phrase used by sellers it makes me some what curious

Now dont get me wrong I think its important to ensure your star wars figures dont inhale second hand smoke for health reaons but Pets?

I dont get the pet bit, I mean unless your pet has chewed the figure which would be pretty obvious, why even mention this?

Curious

Tbh I use it myself but on the basis that it's true, more for clothes and kids toys and I only use it as I always saw it myself. I would say it's got to be about ruling out any potential allergies associated with pets and if it's the difference between gaining or losing a potential bidder then I will carry on putting it in........ Even though it probably don't make a blind bit of difference

Hi Mumbo,

yeah fair point with respect to clothes , that makes sense. I was just thinking in terms of persons selling loose star wars figures as that is where I first came accross this phrase.

Agreed for sw figs it does come across as flipping crazy  I'm sure I've done it though, force of habit

I have many pets, currently, 1 dog, 3 chinchillas, 2 horses and 5 cats.

There's fur every ****ing where in my house, it get's into fabrics like you wouldn't believe, but on plastic or a card, it'll just blow saight off!!

I've used the smoke free / pet free description in the past of loose figures and other every day items I've listed on ebay.

For me it's the same as buying a car, if the previous owner smoked it in, it's a big no go for me.

Yeah I hear you for a car and also as the previous poster mentioned clothes, this makes sense. But again in the context of selling a loose star wars figure which is where I first came accross this phrase I just found it slightly odd.

I disagree, several loose figures have material capes which could hold in the smell of smoke/pets.

You often get 'childhood' finds on ebay, again what if someone cat had pi**ed on the boxes.

I don't smoke or have pets, everyone welcome to their opinions its a free world, for me no to smoke/hair/animal stains etc...

and yet your avatar has a little furry creature in it  how easily you forget, think of the poor bears feelings

ive opened boxes that reeked so bad of smoke it nearly made me puke, also some people have allergies and ive seen tons of packaging riddles with dog hairs, i think its more of a peace of mind thing.
we have a neighbour who sometimes takes parcels in for us when we are out, and they both smoke, when they bring it round the box stinks...lol

Maybe the gods are telling you to donate the money to charity instead.

The great smoke debate again........................If any of you receive stinky vintage items ...I will take them off your hands for free. :D
