Was watching this auction online. Had expected this lot to go for a good amount (£700-£800 in my mind) but it went for a bit more than I expected.

I'm no cardback collector so don't know how rare some of the Palitoys were but I suggest they would have required inspection first hand given that they were photographed through bags and some had names plates cut out and writing on them.

They hammered at £950. For 80 figures and nearly as many cardbacks that's actually not completely bonkers. You had Yak Face, Han Carbonite, Luek Stomrtooper, EV-9DP and many other last 17 in there. Sadly, very, very few had weapons.

The hilarious thing was the auctioneer had a commission bid on his book: £18.

And when you look at those figures compared to what some other bits were selling for: Palitoy ESB (in a worn box) Falcon £210 (+commission). Palitoy ROTJ AT-AT in a slightly better box for £160 (+ fees), some mini rigs for over £100. Even a Rebel Transported in it's box got £90 plus fees! Sadly, I think there were lots of people who had travelled to the sale and were determined to leave with something.

On reflection, the figures and cardbacks were the bargain of the day.....

VCJ far left, or more likely Jawa with no cloak?

He was a cloth with no cape, I think. He's with a Jedi cardback, anyway and this was definitely a childhood collection.
